Guest guest
Hi everyone! First, I also read an article about the correlation of strep throat to OCD in kids. Corey always had strep & earaches as a small child. It got so bad & so often that he finally had to have his tonsils & adenoids out when he was 5 yrs old. That seemed to help the earaches & sore throats but by the time he was 7 he was diagnosed with OCD. He had also had a terrifying nightmare just before that. He woke up screaming that owls were in his room and at his window. He said they touched his leg and wanted to take him away. He never had nightmares before. Ever since that dream he was afraid to be alone or go upstairs alone. He started to have a slight stutter and started getting night terrors as well as nightmares. He started obsessing not long after. One doctor told us that a traumatic experience can bring out the OCD. Don't know if that's true but left us baffled. Jackie, I'm glad that you have heard of Dr. Penzel. It's so encouraging to know he's known. We've been through sooooo many doctors who don't know what they're talking about. One psychiatrist told my husband & I that WE needed a parenting course because we have no control over our kids. HOGWASH!! (((()))) I would love to come to the conference BUT our financial situation won't allow it. Because Corey missed 6 weeks of school, I couldn't work. Now he goes once a week to Singerman and I have to take him. only works Mon-Fri 9-5. Also, there are days that I don't know if Corey will go to school. If the clock reaches 8:40a.m. he won't go because he's afraid he'll be late. He has to tie his shoes a certain way, his hair has to be perfect, getting him to eat breakfast is a chore etc. etc. I'm a nervous wreck watching the clock. I don't know if has e-mail. I live in the same city so I just call him on the phone. Well, guys like I've said before, I could go on & on, BUT I won't so your eyes don't go buggy. Oh yea! When you go to this site there is a menu on the left and one of the things is a chat room. Anyone interested in actually chatting let me know.
