Guest guest
that's ok. on my first gathering I ended up hosting the yankee swap and I have never even heard of one let alone participated in one. Here is how it goes, just show up, best to get their early (i think signing in starts at 9:30ish) wish doesn't entail much, ya put your name on a nametag, uually pick up a folder with info in it, say hi to people, set up a chair to sit in(or steal someone elses :-) I usually bring extra as do others)then ya just go with the flow. 1)the garage sale, people lay out stuff they want to get rid of. probably best to put your name on it someplace so people know who to pay as most likley you will be roaming around checking out other peoples stuff. nothing too fancy, just grab a spot on the floor if ya want, but you can usually find great stuff at good prices. You WILL want to bring cash along for that. usually you will find containers, herbs, soap molds, Fragrances, herbal infusions, Cheryl usually has deer tallow and other goodies. 2)Lunch- there is a signup for lunch items. bob i think is in charge of that. Basically people sign up to bring something either a dish or if traveling a great deal, beverages or paper items(cups, plates, knives, forks) sometimes we also have breakfast treats too or people break into the desserts for bfast. 3)yankee swap- to be in it all you have to do is show up with a plain brown box with goodies inside. I think it is a $10 and over value box, I could be wrong on that. but no pre signup is needed. just be sure it is in a box and you don't tell anyone what is inside. there is also a product swap which i think is now closed. Sometimes people drop out though, check with Cheryl on that. Did we get them all for you?? don't worry about the questions that is what we are here for. if you have more just feel free to ask. oh there is also a friday night dinner for anyone in the area. not sure who is in charge of that. I think it is at a place called Dominicks if the information is correct. I don't know anything more about it. Sorry. but again it is nothing formal. all of our events are fun and fancy free. for that we usually tell the person in charge we plan on going so they can arrange reservations and we pay by seperate checks, hang out, enjoy good food, company and a good evening. > > Hi to all the members! > > I am very excited to be coming to this year's gathering. Guest guest
We can't wait to have you, ! I see that Chrissy has given you a good description so I'll just add my 2 cents worth. On Friday afternoon, anyone who is willing and available can come to Amy Emm's to help split oils (you'll see the announcement later). Later that night, anyone who wants to will meet for dinner (location tbd), but at around 7pm. Spouses/SO's are welcome. Registration starts at 9:30. After you register, you can sell/buy in the garage sales and from any vendors who come. I know The Lye Guy is coming. You may bring anything you'd like to sell that pertains to soap/candles. We'll have coffee and light breakfast treats, but you may want to eat before you arrive. We begin at 10am with an introduction and our first demo (1 is whipped body butter; the 2nd is an experts panel where you can ask questions). After that, we have lunch. Everybody brings a dish to pass. We have had AMAZING lunches! After lunch, we'll have our 2nd session. Interspersed throughout the day will be: getting product swap bags, the Yankee Swap, and doorprizes.
