Although they are good, not enough nutrition for we to live well. I suggest that you can have them but not only with them. Maybe it'll not affect your body in the moment, but it'll affect you in the rest of your life. You'd better think about it. ^__^ I don't have any idea when the mungs to be good. Just worry about your health. Good luck. Sammy
Guest guest
You can start a small batch of micro green everyday, so as not to have an overstock in the fridge and not use them fast enough. say 1 tsp of microseeds. and just keep rotating. There are a lot of variables due to weather, humidity, etc. It is a trial and error thing for me. I eat mungs and lentils everyday. They just take a day or two to sprout. I just sprout them to where they have a tiny tail, maybe 1/16 to 1/4 inch tail. But I do not live on sprouts alone but instead eat what feels right and that includes our friend the cow, while having a good amount of fresh sprouts daily with salads or short grain brown rice. No extremes here. I agree with what the next guy said. Health first. If you are short of funds and are trying to eat freshly, I can see your motivation for sprouts. Soaking your nuts for 6-8 hours will give you more protein. There are some people who can do all raw, but some folks need to have some cooked food. There is definitely no right or wrong way. What ever makes you feel better is a good quideline. And for every seeker there is a path. Diane. ricialove wrote: >When are mungs at their most nutritional best to harvest? I must concur with Sammy here. Your body requires a variety of nutrients which no one food can meet. If you'd like to experiment with economical nutrition, more power to you, but make sure you receive a variety of nutrients from whole grains, beans (unsprouted as well as sprouted), fruits and vegetables. This can be done economically, as the less expensive produce is every bit as nutritious as the yuppie-priced kind. When I was in college, I managed to get a balanced vegetarian diet on as little as 10-15 dollars a month by sprouting, baking and cooking from scratch, etc. You can do it.
