Guest guest
Hey all, Don't forget that the salivary glands secrete the enzyme amylase which breaks down carbohydrates, the enzyme protease which breaks down protein, and lipase which initiates fat digestion. So when we eat, these enzymes begin the work on the food we have put in our mouths. If it is a raw food, the enzymes in the food begin to break down the food molecules also. That is why it is important to chew your food throughly and slowly, to allow more enzymes to be released and more surface area to be worked upon. Juicing is great! I love it! But chewing raw food is important also as a way to get those groovy enzymes and the fiber needed for your intestines to work properly.
