Guest guest
Try setting up a new ID file "from scratch" and see if it goes away. Do not transfer from the old ID. I have had similar problems...the ID gets corrupted, esp. if you reseat electrodes while it is running. Also go through all the laptop rules for BrM...see archives. Rosemary New laptop problem List matesI recently acquired a new Dell 8600 w/512 laptop. Using a USB/ serialadapter.Attached copy is the spikes I see when doing an assessment with BMr1.9A. The assessment report had missing numbers. It did not look good. So Ideleted it. Started over. The desktop that I had been running it on does not have same spikes. I have reapplied conductive, moved to another room, shut off alllighting, shut off desktop, The same spikes are still there at about sameintervals. Does not seem to be a pattern. Unusual High amplitude in the18 to 27 area? It does not seem to appear when switching to the BE system. As being new to Biofeedback. What can I do to get rid of these littlepests?Thank you. Guest guest
Hi everyone I am considering which laptop to buy and am wondering if there are brands which are more electrically " clean " than others? Any recommendations? Guest guest
Get one which has a good video card which does not share memory with the rest of the computer, if possible. Also a good sound card as well. I have a feeling that no laptops can do these things. I for one would not by a lpatop again for NFB. Petty soon you are adding all sorts of ugly boxes to it in order to have a clean and compelling signal for the patient. It stops being portable quicly unless you are willing to sacrifice quality. I would get a desktop and have fewer dangling wires. It's also cheaper. But to answer your actual question: I use a recent Dell 600 and have had no signal problems (that i didn't create by poor prep). the Dell has a real serial port which may or may not be valuable. Guest guest
dudley this might be a problem of your adaptor. we saw it here in switzerland, too, on laptops with certain adaptors (there was a thread once or twice on the brainmaster-list about it. i cannot recall what brands might cause problems). however, non of the laptops which were using a port-replicator showed this (i also use one with no problems). hope this helps stephan odermatt, switzerland > Message: 2 > Date: Sun, 25 Apr 2004 15:39:53 -0500 > From: d-mbrown@... > Subject: New laptop problem > > > List mates > > I recently acquired a new Dell 8600 w/512 laptop. Guest guest
Thanks for all your replies. When getting a new laptop watch that the configuration don't change from month to month. Dell's Feb. brochure shows the 8600 with the real serial port. I was told by phone person at Dell, in Fla., none of Dell's laptops will have the installed serial port they all have USB's. They include little disclosures. In searching the archives for laptop problems I found one about MVAP Med Supplies. 877 735 6827 They must have changed their ordering procedures. As a nonmedical person, using biofeedback, I recently ordered grass brand electrodes, ear clips, nuprep, and ten20 paste. Jensen had to approve the order. I had to wait two weeks, until they changed over. As long as I was not ordering needles didn't seem to be a problem. Things are changing. Gateway is now being sold at Sam's Club. Thanks again. Guest guest
, I just bought a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop because I need the portablility - if you do not need the portability then a regular PC is cheaper and offers better sound cards that can not fit it a laptop. But do look at the detailed specifications on the attached letter. - see attached specifications of what I ordered on word document I included a site that has has dell coupons for 10% off ( expxires tommorow). Van Desuen and a computer techy guided me in this direction. Mark Berman Hi everyoneI am considering which laptop to buy and am wondering if there are brands which are more electrically "clean" than others? Any recommendations?
