Guest guest
It IS great having these federal laws protecting our children, but don't take it for granted. I understand these laws are being looked at by the supreme court for "constitutionality" much like affirmative action was. Depending on who is next appointed to the supreme court, they could be taken away. One of the school psychologists spokerecently at a support group meeting for our schooldistrict and she told us that our childrens recordsfollow them untl High School, but not to college. Itoo was more than a little concerned when my sonneeded a 504 plan, and then special ed services. I dooften feel that he is under a microscope, especiallybecause he has a full time paraprofessionalaccompanying him everywhere but the bathroom, so hegets away with virtually nothing! On the other hand,it is those accomodations that enable him to go to ourlocal school, instead of to a special school that is a1 hour commute each way! I feel that we are fortunateto have these federal laws protecting our childrennow! Hope this helps some.
