fan question - was - making hummus

Hello ,Mine does the same thing. The air blowing from under the machine must be from the rotation of the blades???

Hello Caitlyn,In the 5200 series machines there is no fan to cool the motor on any of the Variable Speeds. Thick batters and recipes like hummus should be processed on high (there is a fan to cool the motor that kicks on when the machine is on high. Try Hummus again on high - it comes out great and so creamy! :-)

I put all that into the vita mix and then put it on variable speed 6 for a while, used the tamper to squish everything down, then upped the speed to ten. It did get all mixed, but after being on ten for only a short while, it turned off.

I've had the vita mix since september 2008 and have made tons of green smoothies in it, lots of sauces for my high raw diets, etc, but am just now branching out doing things like peanut butter, etc. I don't have the cookbook that came with it anymore since my computer crashed and I lost a bunch of things that were on that hard drive.
