Aloha all, I'm happy to have found this group! I've been sprouting

with great success for a while, but it's mostly been greens and beans.

recently i've been sprouting grains. I've had great luck with quinoa

and buckwheat, but i'm having difficulty with oat groats. I've been

sprouting the quinoa seperately because it sprouts so fast. My first

try with the oats-n-groats, I followed the directions on the

website. The buckwheat sprouted fine, but the oats just

swelled up. They were still tasty, but not sprouted. Then I decided

to sprout the buckwheat and oats seperately. When reading the

instructions from SP it says to soak the oats-n-groats for 20-30

minutes, but when i read the directions for just oats, it says to soak

for 30-60 minutes. I've been sure to rinse thouroughly and drain well,

but can't get the oats to sprout. I usually buy my beans and grains

for sprouting from our health food store and their quality has always

been great (and certified organic). The oats are sold as " oat groats "

and look exactly like the photos on the SP website. I'm not sure what

I'm doing wrong. They're still tastey when i mix them up with the

buckwheat and quinoa sprouts for breakfast. I'm wondering if they just

swell like pumpkin seeds or if they actually sprout.
