I am relatively new here, but have been watching from afar as events unfolded. It was not until the Autism One conference that a few individuals convinced me to take a long hard look at what was happening.

My name is Sovern, my son Kolin was injured in December 1999, dx Mod/ Severe Autism in July 2001. Since that time we have done EVERYTHING, or so I thought for him. He is at a "relatively" normal functioning level. He is very verbal...getting very good at lying, full inclusion in school and friends. Back in 2002-2003 I was active in the autism community, but as a friend recently remarked..."I thought once Kolin was better, you would leave us." In a way I tried, we had moved to a new state where getting things Kolin needed was easier and I was tired of living Autism 24/7. But a small, dedicated band of parents would not let me stay that way. With there pushing and shoving, I agreed to join the fray at the local level.

Now with the back story done...I am blown away with the strength, courage and dedication of everyone fighting this battle. The collective passion is infectious. After finishing EOH, shedding a pile of tears, screaming my fool head off with rage and finally able to come up a coherent sentence, I realized that my inaction was at an end. I do want vindication for Kolin, but most of all, as Lyn is quoted, "I want an apology." Not to me, but to Kolin who is fully aware of his differences due to the mercury in his vaccines. Who HATES taking pills everyday so he can struggle to be "a real boy", but does so willing to achieve "normalcy".

So what did I do...

Bought 10 books yesterday...will buy more, so many people NEED to be informed.

Called Rep Kolbe's office...spoke with the staffer and explained how since my son is already heavy metal toxic, he can have the flu shot because it as mercury in it. That Rep. Kolbe should support 881, which would help my son be able to have the shot someday...I asked if it made sense to have mercury in the shots. He said, "It does seem kind of odd to have mercury in vaccines." He agreed to talk to Rep. Kolbe about the issue and get back with me.

Again Kudos to everyone here...you are teaching a tired dog new tricks...

Thanks the first Mom I met of a recovered child told me she was so "over" the Autism thing. We need you folks more than ever...thanks
