Well deserved ...I hope you have a scrapbook started. Have you heard anymore from Suzanne ? I've exchanged a few nice

emails with Alison.

Hello all, I hope you saw the wonderful interview in today’s Newsday, one of the top papers in the country. I especially like this line:

”Evidence of Harm, by New York Times reporter Kirby, is a gripping investigation of these questions. Much like the 9/11 commission's report, it is an alarming page-turner.”

However, I need to stress to everyone on this list that I am NOT a NY Times reporter. (Nor can I be considered exclusively as a science writer.)

This statement, which gets made a lot, is inaccurate, misleading and not fair to the Times. PLEASE, if by any chance you send anything out about me, to media, to listserves, or to anyone at all, kindly use the following language from my homepage, www.evidenceofharm.com to avoid any confusion in the future. It is very important for my credibility that my credentials be described accurately:

“DAVID KIRBY has been a professional journalist for 15 years. He has contributed to The New York Times and several national magazines, writing about many subjects including health, technology and politics”

FYI - The full Newsday review is here:

Some question since this is the Evidence of Harm group........................

Is New York Times Contributor considered fair use?

Which print run is St. 's on currently?

What's the total volume in sales circulation?

How is St. 's shipping EOH and would they/could they employ a lean-back display marketing format so that book stores or grocery stores can step them up in higher traffic areas? (Lean backs are those unfoldable cardboard displays we inevitably crash into on the Supermarket isles)

Lean backs sell anything because they are attention drawers. Besides being chocked full of information Evidence of Harm is a very beautifully designed hard back at a very good price. Getting them into the hands of reading people shouldn't be too much of a problem if lean-backs are employed. What happens when avid readers discover this is not fiction is anybody's guess. I don't think they will want their money back.

Many DSD News distributors also handle literature both fiction and non-fiction. The DSD magazine/book vendors can handle lean-back shippers. I'd like to see what would happen to sales of EOH if they were to test market them in a few grocery store chains.

Evidence of Harm is NEWS. The market will be highest amongst avid news readers and the book is a perfect tie-in for the magazine sections of book stores and it's probably a good idea to test market a few independent grocery chains. Someone from St. 's needs to get cracking on the thousands of News agents across the country.

This is just a concept, but I learned something in the fifteen years I put cans on the shelf.

Thanks Kelli!

FYI Everyone, Bobbie and I should have had that exchange in private, our

mistake. PLEASE do not contact Mrs. by phone, as I would hate for

her office to be flooded with calls. If you like, I can maybe get a mailing

address for her. My appologies for this little email error, and thank you

so much for your understanding!
