Cz is over the motor cortex, while C3 and C4 are over the sensory cortex. Often

better for movement issues.

Would it be effective to train at CZ, rather than C3/C4?

Pete,

I'm not sure I understand the CZ - motor strip and C3/C4 - sensory strip designation. I've always assumed that C3 and C4 were in the margins of the sensory and motor strips in each hemisphere. Ed Hamlin

Ed,

If you look at a picture of the brain, you'll note that the central sulcus,

which divides the front from the back runs in a chevron shape across the center

of the head. It veers toward the rear in the middle. The sensory motor cortex

runs about an inch on either side of the line, sensory behind it and motor in

front. Hence, at C3 and C4, you are placing the electrodes behind the sulcus,

in the sensory cortex, while at Cz you are actually in front of it, in the motor

cortex.

Hi Pete,

I know we have to do this since it's all we can do, but site placement assumes much more uniformity in brains than I've actually seen among real brains. Most of them didn't look like the illustrations. Ed
