Guest guest
Hi, this is common OCD stuff, but I thought I'd ask for some suggestions on handling it --won't see the psychologist for two weeks. is in a special ed. preschool. They give stamps at the end of the day if you've had a good day -- was having such mixed days--good and bad, they broke it up into parts for her so she would get stamps for the parts of the day that went well, etc. She got 6 out of 7 stamps yesterday and had a meltdown that lasted about an hour. She kept screaming " I didn't have a good day, I didn't get 7 stamps. " I'm not sure how to handle this. It seems overwhelming for her, but the teacher said she conforms her behavior well if she thinks she might not get a stamp. Do I make her face it head on, or is this like sticking a kid with allergies into a field of pollen? Should we try something a bit more subtle? How do you handle kids who melt down if they don't get a perfect score? Thanks for your advice. Stephany
