My Introduction (long)

My name is Kathy Hybl and I have a son who was dx @4 1/2 years of age - he is now 7. His dx came in around about way - at first everyone thought Pat's speech delay was just because I did not start talking until I was 4 and his sister (who has no dx and is a honor student) did not start speaking until she was 3. We went through a lot of doctors but the last one we went to thought had Fragile X (even though Pat did not have the facial features, etc.). The doc really thought that was it (and I was pretty convinced myself.) So we gene mappped the family @ VCU in Richmond, VA. Guess what? They found absolutely nothing wrong with his chromosomes and they had also tested for Syndrome, Fragile X, and other stuff that I could not spell. As we were leaving, one of the genetic team pulled me aside and said look towards the vaccines and gave me Dr. Megson's name. Later that night, I got on the web and I thought my world was going to explode - it was one wild ride and still is. Two days later, 's preschool teacher, would give me an article by Megson (some coincidence). I called Megson immediately (thought this was definitely divine intervention at work) but it took three months to see her. and I felt we could do some of the stuff we were reading about like the supplements and ABA therapy, etc. Since with Megson, has regain all speech lost, now makes eye contact, and behaves almost appropriately for his age. He still has some stimming issues like when he gets in front of a mirror and still toewalks but we are no longer in the hell we once were. We have been chelating for 2 years now with DMSA and we just switched to TD-DMPS. In fact, we just got our first report back yesterday; the metals including mercury are coming out with this agent too. Yipee!!

I have a lot questions on myself, my husband, and my kids. My mother said that I was guinea pig for the MMR. I have always wondered if that was contributing factor for my delayed speech and my children. The kids and I always conversed when little but to someone else it would be very hard to understand the output. As for my husband, he has always broken out in weird rashes from time to time and it would be Megson who would dx with Celiac Disease as well as . I will always wonder if Pat did not get the shots and was on the special diet early on, would Pat have had avoided this whole mess??

My husband and I try to spread the word about this everyday. I have learned a lot about so many of EOH alumni through other and some I have even had pleasure to correspond with you. I too am so grateful that this group formed. I will continue to call and write my congressmen and representatives of my state. And spread the word about 's book. I know there are many of you that have worked on this a lot longer than me and my family thanks you!!!

I was in property management before I went into teaching over ten years ago. When

I first got into the classroom, I would see one ADHD student and no autistics. I teach accelerated math (seventh and eighth grade math to sixth graders) in a very affluent community. I now have over half my class labeled as ADD or ADHD, 1 autistic, and one Tourettes. It has been like this for about 5 years. Something is definitely going on and like everyone else I would like the issues resolved.

I loved 's book - I sure hope the huge public debate begins soon over the material in it. It was very cool to met Kirby in Charlotteville and my teacher friends were equally impressed with the information presented. Now these friends are spreading the word to their associates. I have given books to Fredericksburg City Public Schools (my children attend this school system) and to 's regular ped who does not believe the epidemic is coming from the vaccines. My friend has given two books to Stafford County Public Schools (one to the super and one to the director of special ed.) Our libraries here have purchased 3 copies of 's book and there is already a waiting list to read them. I am hoping that they will purchase more; afterall, they have 15 copies of Harry Potter to meet the demand. I have asked everyone to reserve the book so that the library might purchase more for those that cannot afford it.

I think all of you should be cannonized as saints......
