Hi Bill,

thanks for the response. I'll have to find out about the A/T New BE design-- also you can probably lower the volume on the obnoxious sound so that it is not startling. Thanks again,

-------------- Original message -------------- The design I got from Pete entitled "A/T new" does have a very obnoxious low noise that blurps each time the low theta bar is passed. It works well in snapping one out of the bottoms. It in is fact somewhat startling. I initially trained on EEGSpectrum stuff (in February, I'm still a novice) and this BE A/T is much more effective. I have just started using it on myself so as to understand the principle behind the design so I can use it during normal psychotherapy. I've done it for two hours at a time over the last week and have found it a powerful tool although I must get with Pete to understand the reward. For me the reward seems to be when the cacophony stops. However, I have been designated a "Theta Head" and seem to live in the crossover normally.Bill

Pete,

I don't have A/T New BE design. And I remember you mentioning to resend the new BE design package to those who have purchased it earlier. Did you send them already?

Re: A/T and Bio Ex

What about using binaural beats set to promote desireable theta, that would be triggered by excursions out of the desired range? Just a thought.

Hello Pete and listmates.

I want to use Pets's design for A/T in Bio Ex for myself so I want to set all thresholds to "auto." I notice tha that there is no feedback for low-theta in the design -- jsut a bar -- it is not connected to a sound or anything. The design instructions state that the trainer should watch the bar for the client falling asleep or abreatcing -- howev er, when training myself I would like to have a sound that would "jar" me out of that low theta. I can add a "midi" I think to accomplish this. Here are my questions:

For the "bad theta" what midi sound would you recommned?

If I set all the threshholds on "auto" what threshholds would you recommend for::

alpha?

"good" theta?

"Bad"theta?

Thanks in advance for your input?

a jarring midi noise is the "telephone" but I don't know if that's a good idea. In the EEGr the suggestion was to switch reward bands but I'll have to look to be more specific. For myself I noticed that if I could focus or be aware of my surroundings more the alpha would increase.Maureen McCarren <maur@...> wrote:

Hi Maureen,

sorry for the delay in responding -- I have been out of town for two days. The design instructions are in the "read me first" that sends with his designs. Did you have a copy of that?

I have Pete's designs, but I only remember the installation instructions. Is the "Read Me First" something you can pass on? I think I need to read that!

Thanks,

Maureen

I strongly believe it is important to control surges in 3Hz activity if you are

doing alpha/theta to avoid emotional " abreactions " . I was never able to get an

auto threshold to work very well on that band, so I left it disconnected. Best

to have a trainer watching that.

As to sound, I DON'T look for something that will " wake up " the client; just a

sound that will bring him/her up a little without destroying the entire effect

of the training. My favorite protocol used a thumping bass sound, low volume,

which sounded like rapping on a door somewhere. If the amplitude continued to

rise, the rapping got louder.
