Jane,

You can use the design without headphones, but the effect of the beats (in my

opinion, for whatever that's worth) will be minimized or removed.

The SMR% design is set up with a threshold that triggers feedback when the SMR %

is above it and another (which should be set the inverse of the first) that

triggers beats when the SMR% is below it (it is set to " inhibit " SMR). When

your SMR is in target range, you get feedback tones; when it drops below and the

feedback tones disappear, the beats start to move you back toward 14 Hz.

> Two questions:

1. So, then, whenever the design includes binaural

beats, you should be using earphones? Is it damaging

to use SMR% with beats, for example, without

earphones?

2. In the SMR% with beats, the bandwidth filter

13-15hz goes to threshold 2/binaural beats. Should the

increase box be checked or unchecked? Talking among

some of us who are using this design, we've discovered

that some of us have the box checked for increase and

some don't. Pete, save us!

Pete,

Whoa, I am really confused. I want to make sure I understand what you are saying: In the SMR% design, the first threshold (the one evaluating the ratio of SMR over total range) should be set to "increase." The second Threshold, (Threshold 2), binaural beats, which is set to "Auto Target, 40% success" should have the increase box UNchecked, therefore decreasing? Sorry, if I am getting too detailed, but I want to be sure I understand. Thank you for your help and your designs.
