I also do my shaving soap with castor oil but not that high of a castor oil

percentage...I use bentonite and add 1 tspn of sugar to my lye water (more

bubbles).

beer soap would also make a great shaving soap...the beer adds more bubbles

You're not crazy, Jennie.  In fact, you're on the right track.  I use 20%

castor.  Instead of pink clay, however, I use bentonite.  Gives the soap

nice slip and hubby will appreciate the lack of pink.  LOL

Of course, you'll want to increase your hard oils such as coconut to make up

for the soft castor, and you'll have to run it through a lye calc, but it's

not hard.  If you want my formula, let me know.

Oh shoot! I forgot the bentonite. I added 2 tablespoons.

Thanks for jogging my memory, Rose. It isn't easy getting old. ;-) I like

your ideas, too! I'll bet a beer shaving soap would sell big. I've never

added plain sugar, just honey.

That much Castor might make the soap DOS prone...

Is this a hard bar or a cream or soft soap? I made a cream soap and took some of

it and added TerraMin (a Calcium Bentonite supplement that I had in the closet

:-) for my own shaving.

This particular soap I made in April. Do you think there's much chance of

DOS if it hasn't happened yet? I've never experienced DOS, lucky me.
