Guest guest
Hi , is that for age 0-5 only? what system do they hit at age 5? I checked into oregon very carefully about 2 years ago and they had an awful system. is theirs new? Re: Illinois-ans , Please for give typos..sprained wrist, but my "real job" is a case worker for the AZ medicaid waiver system. Anyway, AZ is actually a pilot program which has received many kudos in DC for keeping costs down. There are no waiting lists to get into the system, it can take 6wks to 6 mo depending on how easy the records are to get. The requirements are based on age...0-5 must be at risk for one of the four qualifing conditions(Autism, MR, CP Epilepsy) and show 3 out of 7 functional limitations(same as CA) for access to the Division of Developmental DIsabilities. After eligibility for the DDD is made, application for Medicaid waiver(AZ long term care)...for that the medical needs would require residential treatment and long term care. AZ Medicaid Program can pay for Respite, Therapies(OT, ST & PT-incuding therapist who specialize in sensory integration and music therapy), Habilitation(ABA tutors). The only down side is that families must pay for the consultant out of pocket, but their recommendations can drive the habilitation(up to 40 hrs a wk based on age). Have the Senator look into AZ's program. Other states with good programs are Oregon and Wisconsin. I hope this helps "Since when did medicine and science become religious dogma that people are not suppose to question?"
