Guest guest
No, this is definitely not the way to go. Frist would love nothing more than to be able to label us all as a bunch of violent, crazed parents. This kind of behavior cannot be condoned. Guest guest
The only positive is to tell the truth: As responsible, caring parents of children, we abhor violence and threats of violence. Senator Bill Frist is an honorable man who is attempting to act in the best interests of his country. We support his attempts to strengthen our national security. At the same time we also oppose any legislation that disenfranchcises our thimerosal-damaged children. As Americans committed to democracy, we will work productively with those who agree and disagree with us to affect positive change for our children today and in the future. > I totally agree - I am not suggesting that what he allegedly did is ok - by > any stretch. Guest guest
Karl Rove? Frist is losing his power, big time. I wonder exactly how many death threats American leaders get each day? I guess Frist needed to be the victim to try and deflate the momentum we've recently gained in the Senate. According to Senator Kerry one of the judicial nominees was a ringer for the appeals court where cases involving Thimerosal might go on appeal. Frist NEEDS that appointment to go through. He NEEDS it bad! Those fourteen Republican and Democratic Senators are a serious threat to Frist's political life. There was a lot more to what McCain did to bring these Senators together. Pharma has left a bitter taste in Good 's mouth. He said so on Imus. ("the dogs bark, but the caravan moves on" episode)((you folks really should consider taping Don's show each morning on MSNBC)) I have sent a scathing letter to one Senator concerning Frist's lack of ethics and his glaring conflict of interests on the Thimerosal issue. For what it's worth I requested that the Senate take a hard look at Frist. His family fortune is Columbia HCA/HCI. They were notorious for injecting new-born infants with Hep B at birth. The policy appeared to be a sort of "you want a Hep B shot to go with that birth" marketing ploy. This is a vaccine that even Offit seems to have stepped back from the looks of a Newsday article entitled "Inoculating against fear". To quote: "I think you should be skeptical of anything you put in your body," said Dr. Offit, author of "Vaccines: What Every Parent Should Know" (Wiley, $14.95). http://www.newsday.com/news/health/ny-hscov4176181mar15,0,7901257,print.story?coll=ny-health-big-pix I think everyone could at least log on to the Senate with a similar complaint. Remember the destruction of former majority leader Senator Trent Lott was formulated by Republicans, and not Democrats. The Eli Lilly "midnight rider" on HSA hinged on pulling down Lott from power. Did it not? Bensalem man is charged with threatening Frist http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/local/states/new_jersey/11750541.htmPosted on Fri, May. 27, 2005 Bensalem man is charged with threatening FristA 39-year-old Bucks County man was charged yesterday with threatening to kill U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist.Brett Sonenstein of Bensalem, who has no criminal record, is accused of making two threatening phone calls to the Tennessee Republican's office on March 7. Authorities allege that Sonenstein threatened Frist because he thought the senator was protecting drug companies that are allegedly developing vaccines that contain mercury.U.S. Magistrate Judge M. Faith Angell ordered Sonenstein detained under further proceedings. Federal guidelines call for a sentence of 33 to 41 months if Sonenstein is convicted. Guest guest
Let's not rush to judge here. We don't know the details. We all get hot and bothered and we all love our children. Personally, I've seen something much like this before in politics from time to time. I'm surprised it was a male and not a female. I can not prevent the birds from flying around in the air, but I certainly can prevent them from nesting in my hair. - Luther Re: Bensalem man is charged with threatening Frist I hope that everyone on this list will condemn the Bensalem man's actions. Guest guest
Sticks and stone may break our bones, but names can get your a-- kicked. If something like this did happen it sure would solve Frist's back-sliding in the Senate, but then again he'd be dead and treading flames in the lake of fire. More than likely this is a Karl Rove tactic. Once again Frist has been the victim or hero. I don't know the exact numbers, but victimization always has a positive effect in the polls. Remember that Imus only became involved in the issue after he read a Newsweek article about Bob 's grand-child. Imus was slammed by the WSJ editorial staff, which has strong ties to Frist, and Newsweek got turkey-ed by the White House over the holy book in toilet monkey business.. Turns out that Newsweek was backed-up sort of in a way by FBI on the Koran in the toilet story. But do we really know who set off the disturbance in Pakistan or even if it's related to Newsweek at all? Kind of like that video of nondescript Asian men wrangling chickens because of "bird flu". Guest guest
ROTFLOL. That's what it's all about. I have a friend that worked on a naval vessel. He was privy to intelligence reports. He said (not exaggerating plus just a day or two after September 11th) that the daily reports considered to be threatening to national security are "stacked" and then gone through. He made a size of about eight inches with his two hands. What's to say? I do know that Frist was probably having a very bad day at the office. Until we have details what's to say that Frist wasn't baiting him on. As a doctor, he was purported to work with the indigent, but some of his fellow doctors say that the only indigent people he saw were the ones he stepped over in the hospital hallways en route to his office up in the ivory tower. Let's get over this. Do not let Frist and friends knock you off message. Right now it should be crystal clear that our message is getting through and let's pay attention to see if there is any sort of follow-up on this report. Tie a string around your finger if you need to, and stay on message. Frist is a big boy and he has plenty of beef with the big irons to back him up. Stay on message. Letters to Lieberman and McCain. Also, thank Kerry for producing the revealing article about how we now understand that Frist and friends are trying to slip in a ringer judge or two favor the drug/vaccine market in the appellate courts. STAY ON MESSAGE. And that message is also VSD. VSD. VSD. and also any investigation materials collected by the CDC. 1Thes 5:12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; I am also upset by how this sets us back - in terms of credibility etc.
Guest guest
There are two sides to every story. I'll bet a shinny quarter that Frist baited the guy, or this was a staffer tip. This could really back-fire on Frist. Big Time. Check out Bush's Brain if you can. Re: Bensalem man is charged with threatening Frist Jenn--thank you for this background and contact info for the judge. My gut reaction is for us to stay totally out of this. It is now a matter for the legal system. We do not want to be associated in any way with this incident or this person. Guest guest
I feel very sorry for the person. I can imagine his desperation to help his child. I hope he gets off easy. We all feel desperate at times. Like we are actually digging in the dirt with our bare hands to get the essentials our children need. Supplements, special diet foods, B12 with foliinic acid, therapy. special doctors who know what they are doing. Chelation. It is enough to make you nuts. And the worry "who will love my child?" Our friend list is short and relatives are no help at all. We have just enough to get by on in the first place. I can imagine someone with a short fuse. I just wish he used his energy elsewhere beside to threaten someone. Violence only begets violence. I'll pray for his early release or to serve no time. And for his child. Guest guest
We seem to be missing a few things here. We as a community are very aware of Frists involvement and of the Gov./CDC/FDA etc. (pick a set of initials) with the pharma companies. We live this on a daily basis. We research, read medical journals, surf the web, talk to doctors, scientists and sometimes maybe an author or two. Until recently it has largely been an underground movement. The majority of the population has never heard about thimerosal and autism in any context other than an urban legend. We constantly see it whitewashed on the television and few if any in the medical and political arena will even " mention " the word. As if recognition of this " theory " will give it legitimacy. The white elephant in the room per se. Mr. Frist may have unwittingly exposed the white elephant. > Sticks and stone may break our bones, but names can get your a-- kicked. > > If something like this did happen it sure would solve Frist's back- sliding in the Senate, but then again he'd be dead and treading flames in the lake of fire. > > More than likely this is a Karl Rove tactic. Guest guest
I hope you don't mind I am sending this off list. I don't want to get in trouble for talking about something other than June 8th. I would hope that we could show some support for this man. But for the grace of God there go I. I don't condone his actions as I am usually a peacful person - but I certainly can understand. I am sending a letter - not as the President of NAA- NJ but as a fellow parent. The rough draft is as follows... Jenn www.naanj.org M. Faith Angell, Chief Magistrate Judge Dear Justice Angell, I am writing you today on behalf of Brett Sonenstein. While I am not a friend or associate of this man, I am a member of his extended family. We share the common bond of having a child diagnosed with autism. We both feel that the thimerosal in vaccines has damaged our children. We are both frustrated by the lack of response and deceitful dealings from our government. Mr. Sonenstein is probably exhausted and beaten. Autism/mercury poisoning is a 24 hour a day disability. These children require hundred of thousand of dollars of specialized care. My family alone has spent 500 thousand dollars in 6 years. It doesn’t end. We fight for our children in every arena. Health care is expensive, the insurance companies don’t cover many of the treatments that our children need. The schools make you fight for every service for your child. The medical community of doctors just want to treat the behaviors – most of the mainstream doctors don’t want to talk about a cure – they want to talk about the latest anti psychotic drug or that autism is genetic. The US government is pretending that mercury in vaccines is ok. Family and friends pull away because they can’t believe Threatening an official of the US government is wrong. It goes against all we believe in. Mr. Sonenstein needs to know this, and while it is important to send that message, please take into consideration the above facts. Guest guest
Let's not convict this man with no evidence. We have no idea what the facts in this case are. I am inclined to be sympathetic to anyone who has a child with mercrcury poisoning, but perhaps Mr. Sonnenstein needs the protection of the constitution and our legal system more than letters that concede that the government, the same government that says it is OK to poison children, got it right. This is an administration that said Iraq had weapons of mass- destruction, and then admitted there were no such weapons, they said Iraq had a nuculear capability, and then admitted Iraq had no nuclear capability. They said Iraq was colaborating with Al-Queda and then admitted ther was no evidence to support this claim. These guys lie all the time. We have no reason to believe anything they say. Our legal system evolved over the last 1000 years specifically to protect us from baseless accusations by the government. If the government said this man committed a crime let them prove it in court. In the mean time I will assume he is innocent. > > > > > > > > > http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/local/states/new_jers > > ey/11750 > > > > 541.htm > > > > > > > > Posted on Fri, May. 27, 2005 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Bensalem man is charged with threatening Frist > > > > > > > > > > > > A 39-year-old Bucks County man was charged > > > yesterday with > > > > threatening to kill U.S. Senate Majority Leader > > > Bill Frist. > > > > > > > > Brett Sonenstein of Bensalem, who has no > > > criminal record, > > > is > > > > accused of making two threatening phone calls to > > > the Tennessee > > > > Republican's office on March 7. Guest guest
Well, we hope that this is Frist being Frist. Frist has been painting this picture over and over again. It's clear that your heart is pure. Maybe this fellow as a Gulf War vet? The first thing police usually ask the victim is what did you do to deserve this? WOW! I'll bet they drug out the rockers for that reply!!!!!! Guest guest
I made a big assumption - I assumed he had a kid with ASD. Thanks to the person who pointed that out. I guess there could be other groups of people angry with Frist as well. Jenn I would hope that we could show some support for this man. But for the grace of God there go I. I don't condone his actions as I am usually a peacful person - but I certainly can understand.
