Guest guest
Hi I read the thread about GSE/Aubrey. I have a question. I make my own skin creams and have used GSE from FNWL, just .5% very successfully to prevent mold etc. The last batch I made, little over a month ago, I did not put any GSE in, I forgot. I did add some Vit E. Now there is mold on the top when I opened up the lids of the glass jars, this never happened with the GSE. My recipe includes almond oil/rose water/dist water/glycerin/vitamins and e-wax. Any thoughts on the subject? I cannot use chemicals on my skin for health reasons. Guest guest
I don't wish to sound rude, but if you've been using GSE and " e-wax " , then you HAVE been using " chemicals " on your skin...(let alone the fact that everything is a chemical of some sort, but that's a fruitless discussion here) If you've read the archived messages, you'll find that independent studies have shown that several brands of GSE have been adulterated at the point of manufacture, presumably, with any of a number of anti-microbial agents, including triclosan and benzalkonium chloride - none of which I'd want on my skin in unknown quantities. No one is doubting that adulterated commercial preparations of GSE have some efficacy - the question is what is in them and is it safe...if the answer to either is " I don't know " , you're running a big risk. BTW...just because no mold has been visible in other batches, don't make the assumption that they've been uncontaminated...most of the time you won't see or smell the contamination. Guest guest
Thanks for your input. I understand about the possible chemicals in GSE and that is why I did not use it last time altho I get it from FNWL and I believe they said it does not contain any. Also the e-wax I get from Rainbow Meadows is supposed to be safe too. I know what you mean about chemicals in everything but in order to make a cream I try to use as little as possible and what I make is certainly better and safer than what I would buy in a store. I am allergic to beeswax btw. Any ideas?
