Jeff, All the words in the descriptions of the " foods " on the grocery shelves

are federally regulated. The FDA allows the addition of " safe " poisons (are we

used to seeing 'less than 2% of the following' on labels?) in the form of

preservatives, sweeteners, and flavor enhancers without adequate testing. All

foods now crossing into our borders are irradiated, even organically grown. That

little tidbit is in a college textbook written by a chemist for a Nutrition

class. Ingredients in prepared foods on the shelf are no longer required to

state if any are irradiated or GMO. Kellog's is very proud of their vast GMO

corn crops in Brazil. Did you folks know they bought out Morning Star and their

lovely vegan protein foods are now full of yeast extract - the food industries

cheapest form of MSG? The point here, Sir, is to answer to an earlier ( and oh

so naive) question you'd posed:'What possible motive would any government have

with producing the lowest quality food?' Who funds

the Government? And how do big corporations get their money? Americans purchase

whatever they dish out, then become ill and require expensive medical care. Who

owns the phamaceutical industries and hospitals? It sure ain't the people.

Sproutingly,

I believe the ultimate aim of all governements, is to control food supplies to

the endth degree, so that only the lowest grades poorly nourishing foods are

available.

OF course this would not be obvious to the average jo public! They want to make

sure that we have no natural ways of keeping ourselves fit and healthy..!

Look at your Monsanto wanting to take control of all seeds and make them

Talk about delusions!!!! I would suggest you study some history and

look around a little and then be honest in your conclusions.

Also find out what the American government did via different agencies

(CIA etc.) in regards to experiments against the American people in

the past 60 years or so. Ignorance is truly bliss! Once you are

directly affected by these evil government actions you will change

your mind fairly quickly. Unfortunately people are too selfish to

take actions, or even be concerned a little as long as they don't

hurt by the impact of wrong and negative government actions. Very sad.

Where do you get all this nonsense from? Don't you have a mind of

yourself to check things out independently? Anyone with a few brain

cells left will not believe a word the government or any of its

agencies is telling us as a result of all the lies the government

told in the last 6 or so years. Nothing was true. How can anyone

continue and believe a group of people that does nothing but lie and

deceive. If you go further back you will find out that the lying and

deceiving didn't just start a few years ago. You will also find out

that it doesn't change by a change of party at an election. Please,

do yourself a big favor and take your head out of the sand. Just

look around for a little while. You will find your delusional world

disappear and reality show its ugly face. Yes, my friend, it is an

ugly reality. No denial will stop the repercussions we are bringing

upon ourselves with denying and refusing the truth.

Thank you, . And Jeff, the same story is true with every

other aspect. hinted on the fact that we are controlled by

corporations, not government. By the way, government should not

control us either. It's us, the people, that should control

government. Do you know how a state is called that is controlled by

corporations? Find out an let us know. It's important.

Hi Jeff,

[sorry everyone, as you may have gotten this multiple times...]

If " [r]oundup ready seeds are a monstrosity " then " quasi-government corporation "

is not a meaningless phrase. Worse than the " intellectual property " rights of

hybrids is the fact that Big Pharma is racing to patent all plant and animal DNA

on planet Earth. Wanna sprout mung beans? How much are you willing to pay for

the " right " to do so?

I noticed you addressed around my mentioning of it being illegal to collect

rainwater (in Argentina). Are you just not going to address the government

involvement in a quasi-government corporation's decision to " privatize " the

water cycle in a whole country? Who did they privatize it to? I bet it was

their " friends " with deep pockets. The idea that collecting rainwater is

illegal seems to go beyond mere greed, don't you think?

Here's something that might change your views on the corruptibility of

governments and the so-called paranoia of the " conspiracy theorists " - a little

OT:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/06/04/china.climate.reut/index.html

The title is " China puts economy ahead of climate " and here's an excerpt:

" China said on Monday its response to the threats of climate change must give

overriding priority to economic development as the nation seeks to balance

ambitions for growth with fears of environmental calamity. "

The sad thing is that all foods are " processed foods " . It's the growing

process, the shipping process, the hybrid process, and the environment (acid

rain, etc.) that is causing our food to be so poisonous and governments are in a

good position to stop all of that - if they had no other interests (Read:

corporate sponsorship).

There has been a real movement in the last thirty years to eradicate the

policies of the New Deal. Making a decent living impossible (more immigration),

starving people (low nutrient foods) and pricing good food out of the reach of

the average person (why does milk cost more than soda?) is just three ways to

ensure people will do whatever you tell them to do - en masse. This is no

paranoia talking. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer

to the detriment of all. (High-end department stores are reporting more sales

while discount department stores are reporting losses?)

In addition to avoiding processed foods, you may want to revise your diet to

exclude anything that has been grown outdoors, as well. Thanks for the

discussion!

Sincerely,

L. Mason

Re: Re:Our rights to buy suppliments is in

Hi,

Monsanto is a quasi-government corporation. The kind I work specifically to

minimize when it comes to our foods.

They do a great deal of research in the areas of genetic engineering - the kind

that modifies plants so they do not develop seeds (so you and I cannot get their

" property " and grow our own food) or plants that develop the nutrients past the

sprouting stage (so you and I cannot eat sprouts).

There are many events that may sound like " conspiracy theory " , but are really

happening! Who ever thought animal and plant DNA can be patented or that it

would be illegal to capture rainwater? Not all seemingly strange things are make

believe.

Hi,

I don't know if you're a moderator, but I disagree. Discussing modified foods

should be a topic covered on this list, as well as, what drove people to

sprouting in the first place. If we do not discuss the issues surrounding our

future ability to sprout, is the point to this list only to ask " what's a good

source for mung beans? " or " has anyone ever sprouted peanuts? " You can find

that information by doing a Google search.

In the last four days, today included, there has been 44 messages to this list -

almost a third of the total from last month. Just something to ponder.

I fully agree. Sprouting is a means of getting whole foods that

cannot be had or bought anywhere. The question arises now: Why not?

What has driven or motivated people to sprout? Why aren't we able to

get whole foods, highly nutritious foods? What's the problem or

cause? Lots of questions. They only can be answered when there is a

frank and honest discussion about these questions. All of these

questions gravitate around sprouting. There of course will be people

that defend the status quo. That's normal and has to be expected.

After all, we are in the mess because people generally object to

change and to minority opinions. It has been like this throughout

the ages. A forum such as this one should give people the

opportunity to find solutions and answers to questions that are not

from the mainstream and might be somewhat out in left field. Who

cares. The important point is that we have a discussion that

hopefully brings us closer to viable answers or solutions.

Ms. Mason, I don't know if you noticed or not but you can also find any

political agenda you desire by doing a " google search " . I, too, am concerned

about the quality of my food source. I've certainly signed my share of

petitions to Congress. But that's not why I joined this group. Looking for a

source for mung beans, is exactly why I come to this site. You might want to

" ponder " that.

Everyone; What drove me to sprouting in the first place was the fact

that a local healthy restaurant served sandwiches and salads with spouts.

I bought bean sprouts at the store. I liked the sprouts and felt I could

learn to make them cheaper. I sprouted a long time before I found out

they were good for me. But, yes, I do want to know how to do it better

and where to buy seeds. I do not believe all the garbage that is being

said about the government trying to take over my life. I'm 73 years old

and have heard the government control subjects over and over and I'm

still free to eat what I want, to grow my own garden to sprout what I

want and to buy seeds where I want. You people can listen to and repeat

all that crap that the soothsayers are predicting, but that doesn't make

it true! I call on everyone in this group to be heard if you want it to

stop.

Thank You, ew

Hi,

I don't know if you're a moderator, but I disagree. Discussing

modified foods should be a topic covered on this list, as well as,

what drove people to sprouting in the first place. If we do not

discuss the issues surrounding our future ability to sprout, is the

point to this list only to ask " what's a good source for mung beans? "

or " has anyone ever sprouted peanuts? " You can find that information

by doing a Google search.

In the last four days, today included, there has been 44 messages to

this list - almost a third of the total from last month. Just

something to ponder.

Hello,

I actually wasn't discussing politics, but quasi-government corporations and how

they are taking control of our food, including the very proteins that make up

our foodstuffs.

The very ability for us to grow our own food is at stake. It seems to me that

any active community that grows its own food would be interested in that.

I actually think this group is big enough for both of our needs from a

discussion group to be satisfied and see no need to limit it to just a resource

list. After all, it's good to know I'm not the only one who uses the delete

key. Have a great day!

Hi EW,

I began sprouting for many reasons. Controlling my own food, getting better

nutrients and decreasing my food budget are among them.

Being free to eat what you want is a privilege that is being taken away from us

younger folk. No offense old-timer, but " in your day " there were still condors,

family farms and many varieties of apples and tomatoes. No condors later, a few

remaining tomato and apple varieties exist (and the numbers are plummeting) and

the virtual disappearance of the family/community farm spell a cause for

concern.

Things change and not for the better when people ignore the symptoms of illness.

The food you are eating now doesn't even contain the nutrients it did when you

were my age (which is 35). How can someone my age ignore the cases of obesity

and diabetes in children? The rising cost of quality food? The mislabeling of

inorganic food as " organic " or the bottling of tap water - all for profit, no

less?

I asked this before, but are you comfortable with China's move to dismantle the

environment in order to become an economic superpower? The fact that it is

widely believed that these things are mutually exclusive frightens me. Have a

great day!

Sincerely,

L. Mason

Ernest, is this a question for a sprouting forum? I don't think so

but I will answer it anyway. I can tell you that I am not 'anti

Bush' but I am anti-illegal war, I am anti-state terrorism, I am anti-

fraud, I am anti-torture. Do you get the picture? If any country

would do to us what we have been doing and continue to do against an

innocent country, every American would cry foul. Every American

would call such action that we impose on Iraq right now and have done

for several years 'illegal war', 'state terrorism', 'fraud',

'torture', 'genocide', 'mass murder', etc. Why do Americans think

that we can do to others what we would not want them to do against

us? Are we as a country such hypocrites? Are we totally immoral and

corrupt? I would like you to answer these questions.

Now I can tell you something else. People are responsible for the

actions of their governments. If we allow such atrocities against

another people we will have to pay for it someday somehow. An

immutable law of nature is 'action = reaction' or 'cause and

effect'. 'What you sow you will reap'. These are laws of nature. I

can't change them, you can't change them. They work for individuals

as well as countries. Now, if we have done right by going into Iraq

and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people then only good

will come from it. Our country will prosper in every respect. On

the other hand, if these actions are destructive and evil then

destruction will come to America also. I guess the future will

tell. Or is it telling already? More and more crime is facing

Americans. More and more sickness and limitations are facing us.

But of course this has nothing to do with us killing hundreds of

thousands of innocent human beings. This is simply happening. It

doesn't matter what you believe. The reaction will be manifesting

itself.

Well Fred I respect your opinion and your right to voice it.I don't agree with a

lot of what you stated. This started with supplements then food control and now

its political with an emotional spin to the left! You should start a new thread

Well that was good for a laugh!Yes I must admit that I'm not familiar with

argentines laws. There is a local ordinance here about collecting rainwater that

becomes a stagnate pool. Its a public safety issue relevant to mosquito

control.Im pretty sure Monsanto had nothing to do with it passing into law.

Quasigovernment corp.. and Big pharma are both meaningless.Natural things

including plants and animals cant be patented.Distortion of facts for a

political agenda is a sad state of affairs. My original point was this is not

about sprouting " its political nonsense that everyone already knows

about " .Although its quite interesting in a you gotta be kidding me kind of

way.Your definition of the word processed is without boundaries.China will do

what is best for china, just as the USA. does.

Re: Re:Our rights to buy suppliments is in

jeopardy

Not all seemingly strange things are make

believe.
