Guest guest
Hi Folks, I've been sprouting for sometime. Recently a friend, who happens to be a mushroom supplier to most of the high-end restaurants in the local area, gave samples of my sprouts to some of her clients. Well, now they keep wanting more and more. To make a lengthy story short, I've been researching information about commercial sprout production, I feel that I should do the right thing. Well, after reading about FDA rules and USDA " guidance " about commercial sprouting, I'm thoroughly confused. ISGA seems to come up on all the info I've read. Why is the FDA singling out raw sprouts as hazardous to one's health????? What the heck is this microbial testing of irrigation water all about????? After contacting my extension office and the Virginia State University Ag and Research Dept, they basically told me that the best thing to do is to join ISGA. Well, I almost did. I called ISGA and also looked up their website. It was a real eye opener. Their latest update on their website is almost a year ago, their total membership is 80, down from 100 that they claim on their website, and they'll charge $450 to give you " " exclusive " information that can be ontained for free. Can anyone tell me what the real poop is about commercial sprouting????? Anarchist in VA
