Guest guest
Well, I was able to get Levi into the psychologist today, and the psychologist feels that he does have OCD. I was very pleased with his plan for treatment. He has already read the many books you have mentioned here, especially likes Brainlock and wants me to go get it and read it. He discussed Dr. Foa's ideas as well. He worked with Levi a little bit, told me what to do at home, and we will meet with him again on the 27th. Levi really enjoyed his visit, and talked with him about what exactly the problem was with the lights and doors. We found that in essence, wasting energy = death. Poor little guy. I feel very hopeful now, that there is something we can do. The psychologist said that he hopes that maybe Levi will generalize the work on the lights/doors to the germ issue. We'll see what has happened next week. Theresa in OR
Guest guest
Theresa in OR, What an amazing experience!! It sounds like Levi is ready to change, which can be the hardest obstacle! You also mentioned that Levi was able to tell the doc what some of his issues are, and the doc included you as part of the therapy - WOW! Team work is what works the best and it sounds like you have a terrific partner!! big hugs, wendy in canada ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
, Thanks for your post, I feel even better about the whole experience. :-) Now, I actually have to implement it. LOL I keep missing him when he goes to turn off the lights. However, I did catch him twice today. He is trying to sneak around and shut off the lights and shut the doors. I think he did really well when I did get him to stop, talk about his thought processes, then distraction. I am sure you all have talked about this before, but how do you determine who should know about your child's OCD? I ended up telling a friend tonight, to explain that I couldn't come over to watch a movie at her house, because I had to shadow Levi and keep him from shutting off the lights. I also have to say that this list has been a huge help to me, and a real education. Thanks to all for their posts! Theresa in OR ---------- >From: " W.
