Is sprouted bread a viable alternative to ordinary cooked bread?

I love bread and would love to find an alternative.

I wish I knew more about sprouts as they are so nutritious, I am going to

educate myself from the net and other books.

Here are some sites for people who may have not heard of them;

eatraw.com

vegsource.com

digestivewellnesscenter.com

livingnutrition.com

HHope this group becomes more active soon!

The way that this, and many other lists work is that when you send a

message to the list - everyone gets a copy, you will even have received

a copy of your own message yourself.

Then, when people get to read their mail and can help, they simply

'reply' to the message with the answer. So, everybody on the list will

get this answer as well.

The list has been started by the Sproutpeople but, it is actually

'inhabited' by many unconnected people all around the globe.

Now about Alfalfa and other sprouts...

I assume that you know how to grow greens in trays since you grow

wheatgrass and sunflower. Alfalfa and many other differ because you just

sprout the seed, without any growing medium and eat the whole lot - no

cutting needed.

Most people use some sort of jar or sprouter to do this. You soak your

seed for a given time (depends on the seed, though 6-8 hours is a good

guide) then you drain then keep them in your sprouting jar. The jar

needs to have drainage and air flow.

Then every 6-12 hours your give your sprouts a quick rinse, just do it

in the jar, that is fine. After rinsing, shake out as much water as you

can and leave then to sit at room temperature until the next rinse /

drain cycle.

Here is a link to a fuller explanation:

http://www..com/grow/bits/bits.html

On the Sproutpeople's web site:

www..com

You can get information on each of the seed & beans etc that they sell

about how to sprout them. For example, here is Alfalfa:

http://www..com/seed/alfalfa.html

You can find details of lots of other seed, grain and beans there.

Either click on the link to the type of product or use their in-site

search facility.
