Guest guest
Artifact is something that looks sort of like EEG but is not, such as EKG or muscle movements. Muscles produce large amounts of electricity when they contract and that frequently shows up on the EEG both as slow waves in eye blinks or eye rolls or neck movements and as fast activity as in clenched jaw muscles, etc. Hank Mann Henry Mann, MDWork 860-536-6023Cell 860-705-9211188 Wolf Neck RoadStonington, CT 06378
Guest guest
What is the definition of "artifact" in neurofeedback? Thanks,Dawn Miner, novice - soon-to-be hometrainer I know that Margaret Ayers and Barry Sterman both regard delta as artifact, but I disagree with this notion. In the conventional EEG literature, delta is recognized as a very fundamental brain rhythm. Certain brain chemical/s are thought to be related to different brain rhythms and I would have to dig it out, but delta is associated with one of them.Regards,Hal Schaus
Guest guest
, Try rubbing a little dab of baking soda onto the skin before prepping to reduce the acidity. Only time I ever ran into this problem, it worked quite nicely (back in the days when I was taking care of a swimming pool and was up on acid/base chemistry. Pete Van DeusenBrainTrainer ()16246 SW 92nd Ave, Miami, FL 33157305/321-1595 Artifact Today I tried to do an assessment with a 45 year old man but no matter what I did I couldn't get a clear signal. He shaves his head so I obviously had not problem getting his hair out of the way. Though he never discussed this with a doctor, he said that he has very acidic sweat to the point where it pits the metal in his watch. One time it ate away the back of his watch. I know the artifact problem was related to him specifically because right after seeing him I saw another client and had no problem getting a clean signal. Anybody ever have this problem or have any suggestions?
