I'm using Oxine (they changed their name to Avicine) on my sprouts.

You can look that up, too. Dr. Branson Ritchie advises that it

kills anything/everything that can hurt our birds -- viruses,

bacteria, molds, fungus, etc. It's stabilized chlorine dioxide --

it kills everything that clorox does, but without the toxins.

They're putting it in some muni water supplies now. I use it for

cages, food bowls (dog and bird), floor cleanup, kitchen counter

cleanup, breadboard cleanup, shower cleanup, and even put it in my

carpet cleaner to kill all odors in the carpet -- and now I use it

for sprouts, too.

human food? sometimes they pass things for animals and not for humans--i

would only use things for my animals that were approved for humans, you know?

You can look it up and read about it all over the web. Look up:

Oxine

Avicine

Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide

Branson Ritchie recommends it because it kills everything that can

hurt a parrot, including PBFD (one of the smallest viruses known).

Lots of aviaries are using it now. Plus they use it in chicken

drinking water so you know it's safe. I've been washing my parrots'

bowls with it. I wouldn't do that if I didn't feel certain it's

safe. BTW, they make a human toothpaste and a human mouthwash with

it. But check it out for yourself. Besides, I always rinse it

afterwards just anyhoo.
