Guest guest
APro is great software, but I have three computers and can't get it to work on any of them anymore. It was written on (I believe) Windows 95 and was updated once, but it's been standing out in the back pasture for a long time. I guess if she has a machine running Windows 98, she might be able to get it to work. If she gets that, though, there's no need for BE for garden variety attention issues. Since I don't work with kids myself, there are some gaps in my knowledge. She is considering WaveRiderJr combined with BioExplorer. I'm wondering if she should consider Brainmaster and Apro (also with BE)....would they offer better/different feedback options for kids? What do those of you working with kids use the most? Thanks! Guest guest
, The BE software (not any one hardware) is the resource that will offer you options for fun and/or interactivity for kids. Regarding fun and interactive feedback options in B.E.: THE SKY IS THE LIMIT. There are some excellent Video Animation CD's developed by list members ( comes to mind). You can offer the child his/her choice of DVD, or his/her choice of CD music to train with. I would say (from having worked with kids for quite a few years) that a BIG part of their interest in feedback is in having made the choice of what to watch/hear THEMSELVES. Giving them a nice gamut of options and letting them decide WHICH gives the feedback emotional content. As for hardware. Remember that the WaveRider Jr is the only one from the list you mentioned which offers some VERY USEFUL modes of training: EKG (Breath training), GSR (desensitization and conflict resolution training) and EMG (Muscle relaxation while at task training). Since you're looking at the same price(ish) and at the same ROOT software, until J & J comes online with a multimodal unit which interfaces with BE, the WaveRider is the only one which offers such "goodies". Empower, Employ, Enjoy! Machado- Van Deusen Kids/hardware choices I am advising a new practitioner about what hardware to purchase. Guest guest
Anyone else want to weigh-in? The kids she will be working with are learning disabilities, autism, special needs, bi-polar kids. Is anyone using just BioExplorer and are you happy with your options? Kids/hardware choices I am advising a new practitioner about what hardware to purchase. Guest guest
For this type of client I would much prefer BE to BAPro. You have a lot more control of the sound environment. I find a lot of these highly aroused kids prefer training eyes closed with headphones in a darkened room, just listening to the music, which you can do very nicely with BE. Guest guest
, This sounds like my case load. Most of the kids are very happy with and respond well to BioExplorer. I hve not tried the DVD feedback (limitation on my old laptop) but the option of playing a CD appeals to adolescents. I have moved from the pause/play setup for CDs to varying the volume. When the volume goes low most of the kids respond by sitting still and focusing on the music which has the benefit of helping them get back on track with the training. I spoke with one provider who had a bunch of cartoons burned to a cd and used those with younger kids. Larry is also committed to adding an interface that will allow 3rd party developers to develop new screens for BioExplorer., At 8:06 AM -0400 4/10/04, St. Clair, MSW wrote: Anyone else want to weigh-in? Guest guest
Pete and , There are several options with BrainMaster. We don't know why you are having difficulty running BA Pro on your PC's. We can run it on all Windows. Call the office for personal assistance if you need it. We are able to run BA Pro on all Windows including XP and 2000, with the latest updates. You can contact us by phone or email if you need the update SW or support. So if you should be able to run on any current PC or laptop. Also, we will be adding the BA Pro animations to the 2.0 AVI viewer soon, so you can have Grand Canyon, Spider, and the others integrated with 2.0. In addition, we are introducing the "CIS" (Cybernetic Interface System) software from BeyondVR (the same as runs on NeuroCybernetics), and this includes a CD player, with any of the CIS titles, suc And 2.0 is becoming increasingly popular for clinical as well as office, school, and home-based training, as it is simple to use, and very effective. And 2.0SE has dozens of improvements, and is a free update to 2.0, available as a download, and on an upcoming CD. The CD will include yet more improvements, a new training screen, and an alpha/theta sound module developed with the Othmers, which is similar to the NeuroCybernetics alpha/theta sounds, and takes them a step further. The 2.0SE update URL is www.brainm.com/software/update/2.0SE If you are using 1.9A, the latest update is at www.brainm.com/software/update/1.9A Tom Kids/hardware choices I am advising a new practitioner about what hardware to purchase. Guest guest
Tom, The new improvements with the CD sound very interesting, especially the sound which is similar to the NeuroCybernetics alpha/theta sounds. When will it be available? I have BioExplorer with Pete’s designs, but I still prefer some of the BrainMaster 2.0 features.
