Guest guest
Bill, I really appreciate the comprehensive dental information you've been sharing here. Thanks so much. I assume that since you post the promotional information on the VitaPick and Smile Method, that you consider this an advisable approach to treating gum disease? How do you feel it compares with the various " water pick " irrigation devices, including the ones that can be charged with therapeutic agents like hydrogen peroxide, salt water etc? One piece of information I specifically felt the lack of in the promotional literature for VitaPick was a physical description of what must be done to use the Pick to get the H2O2 and salt to the bottom of the " pockets " that result in tooth loss from gum disease. I assume it is an injection process? Alongside the tooth, between the tooth and the gum, down to the bottom of the " pocket " ? Is a mirror needed to treat oneself with the VitaPick? Just how is the VitaPick used? I noted in the promotional literature that VitaPick was presented as superior to irrigator apparatus (WaterPick) in that is would not cause further separation of tooth and gum, as the irrigator apparatus is known to do, according to the claim, and that it would reach the bottom of pockets that irrigation could not touch. What is your opinion on this? Do you see the VitaPick as an adjunct to irrigation? Or do you see it a superior approach that should be used instead of irrigation? Any light you can shed on these questions will be helpful. Thanks, Green PS -- the price of two VitaPicks and instructional book is very attractive. ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^ Bill Kingsbury wrote on Tuesday, December 26, 2000 12:07 PM Note: This technique (by itself) applies only to gum disease and bacteria deep in gum pockets. It does NOT apply to any of the following: deep tooth decay, root canal decay, periapical tooth abscesses, or cavitations (jaw bone abscesses). These are usually best diagnosed with a panoramic x-ray -- or even better: 2 or 3 panoramic x-rays taken at different exposure settings. http://www.albrite.com The VitaPick is the only practical way to kill the destructive bacteria in deep pockets. The VitaPick is a high quality (re-usable) pen-size applicator that delivers natural antiseptics into gum pockets which cannot be reached by brushing, flossing and irrigating. The VitaPick attacks the bacteria that recede the gum line and cause tooth loss. The VitaPick works because it applies powerful antiseptics that kill the harmful gum disease bacteria at the base of even the deepest pocket. >>snip<<

A water pick should not be used on infected or bleeding gums, to keep bacteria from being blasted into the bloodstream -- which can, in some cases, initiate endocarditis (heart infection), which can linger without major symptoms for decades. >One piece of information I specifically felt the lack of in the promotional literature for VitaPick was a physical description of what must be done to use the Pick to get the H2O2 and salt to the bottom of the " pockets " that result in tooth loss from gum disease. Just how is the VitaPick used? It seems to be a hypodermic syringe with the " needle " having a blunt point. Larger amounts of H2O2 should not be put in the mouth if there are any metal dental parts in there, too. Metal oxide solutions could be formed, and absorbed directly into the brain's blood supply. I'd prefer a sonic toothbrush to a water pik (since it can supposedly remove affixed plaque, and also due to the above infection danger) -- used in conjunction with this VitaPick. A water pick could also be used, on a LOW setting (if there are no bleeding gums) -- after the sonic toothbrush, and before the VitaPick.
