This is very interesting to me. About 8 - 9 yrs ago, I was a vegetarian who

incorporated eggs and fish in my diet as well. One problem though I was

constantly anemic. I worked with an herbalist and tried many forms of veg.

protein but nothing worked. During that time, I had a random cholesterol test

run and I was at 132. I thought that was good but it sort of shocked a few

people who told me something must be wrong with me to be that low. My Dr

advised me that I had to eat red meat ... which I did although I'm allergic

to beef. Within a short time I was no longer anemic. So since then, I try to

eat lots of fruits and vegs, but meat is a mainstay.

Recently I decided to take grains, dairy and nightshade (potatoes) out of my

diet to try to alleviate the arthritis in my thumb joints. I have wheat

allergies and although I don't believe in drinking milk, I still used it in

my coffee/tea. My mother used to tell us humans should not drink milk after

their weaned. By profession, she taught college and was head of the nursing

program. I have to tell you this woman was ahead of her time in many ways.

This was back in the 50's and milk was the supposed number one food to make

you grow up big and strong. I found out not to share my moms beliefs with

many as they thought she was the worst mum on the planet.

I'm now following the paleoithic diet. I have felt some relief in my joints

since I made the change 3 weeks ago, hoping for more. Its hard not to eat

butter and yogurt as I think they are good for you. I was tested as a child

for allergies of all types. Some of the foods I was allergic to: beef,

potatoes, strawberries, celery. Also many plant allergies. (wheat, weeds)

I found it odd that someone could be allergic to beef but my novice theory on

that is cows eat many grasses and weeds so thats possibly being absorbed

somehow which inturn is absorbed by me when I eat beef. Having allergies to

wheat and grasses, I react to the small amounts in the meat. Make sense?

Anyone with any other theories?

Terri
