Guest guest
Bill, My personal experience with most of the nootropics is that the answer to the question in the subject line is vinpocetine improves recall, but it doesn't do as much for brain fog as piracetam, or even better, pramiracetam does. I take a pramiracetam every morning. I have for over a year. I stopped for two months once for a breather, but never again! We don't notice our cognitive losses bit by bit over the years. But, when you have them back & lose them in weeks, then you know -- and I'm never going back there again! I like vinpocetine, and it has some research showing it is as protective of eye cells as it is of brain cells. But, it doesn't enhance cross-brain communication as do the analogs of the pyroglutamate molecule. jim Bill Kingsbury wrote: > > IS VINPOCETINE THE ANSWER TO BRAIN FOG? ----- carpe diem, carpe pecunia, carpe femina. -- Jim Lambert jlambert@... http://www.entrance.to/madscience http://www.entrance.to/poetry
Guest guest
Jim, have you or anyone in this group heard of Methyl-Cobalamin for brain improvement. Life Extension sells it. My girlfriend took it for Bells Palsy and it did help. The claim is to take 1mg for normal maintenance or more if one has problems. It is rather expensive. Guest guest
The company I get it from sells some of the best quality supplements I've ever seen. I believe that they may be the only company allowed to sell it here in the USA. -- jp JP, would you share tie info with the group? Guest guest
Hi Jim, Don't you think there's a more " natural, holistic " way of retaining brain function than a laboratory made drug? P. Guest guest
Vinpocetine is not a " prescription " drug, since I sell it in my chiropractic office. It is not cheap however. Guest guest
, I never said my philosophy is 'a more " natural, holistic " way.' I believe in what is most natural that works! Of course there is a better way than supplements -- any supplements -- FOOD! But, the pyroglutamate molecule, even in its pharmaceutical form, is still safer than peanuts, table salt & strawberries. So, I don't worry about taking it as much as I do the total wreck of my car during the 2 motnhs I stopped taking it. If you want a non-pharmaceutical form get arginine pyroglutamate. I think it also comes in a glutamic form. Vinpocetine is an extract of periwinkle, or vinca, and is no different than other supplements. I take them, but my number is dwindling as I eat better. Since I went all raw the number plumeted. Christel, Methyl-Cobalamin sounds like a B-vitamin? jim wrote: > > Hi Jim, > > Don't you think there's a more " natural, holistic " way of retaining brain > function than a laboratory made drug? > > P. ----- carpe diem, carpe pecunia, carpe femina. -- Jim Lambert jlambert@... http://www.entrance.to/madscience http://www.entrance.to/poetry

Do you call Ginkgo (aka Gingko) a laboratory drug ? They're both herbal extracts, in their most active forms. Bill ..

Vinpocetine is now available through any U.S. vitamin store: whether " they " know it, or not, they can easily order it. Jarrow brand has 100 capsules x 5 mg Periwinkle herbal-extract Vinpocetine available at discount from: http://www.vitamintrader.com . About $12.95 retail price ? It costs even less in powdered form, from: http://www.beyond-a-century.com . Bill ..
