This is undoubtedly a " duh " comment, but I wouldn't recommend trying to make

coconut butter in a series 3600 WITH A SPOUT! Actually, I'm not sure if my

problem occurred while processing the coconut or after I made a

" clean-out-the-carafe " drink.

I don't have a plug for the inside opening, and I was having enough trouble

getting the coconut to process, so I didn't think about the possibility of

coconut getting WEDGED in the spout -- but that's just what happened. 8^(

My coconut ended up a little gritty*, but I scraped it into a pint Mason jar.

Since there was coconut butter wrapped around the base of the blades, I thought

I'd try to make a drink (following Lea Ann's advice somewhat). I added frozen

pineapple, canned coconut water, a handful of frozen mixed greens, and about 2

Tbsp of date-and-coconut water sweetener (because I like sweet stuff!).

It was only afterwards, while cleaning the container, that I thought about the

spout. Sure enough, there was coconut CRAMMED inside.

I added hot water to the carafe and have it soaking. Well, I'm off to find some

pipe cleaners!

* I probably should have processed longer, but I was getting tired of digging

out the coconut under the blades and dumping everything into a bowl. I even

added coconut oil to get it to start processing.

<<snipped most of my post>>

Hi Terry.

The older machines, such as the series 3600, had a dispensing spout at the

bottom front of the carafe so that blended items could be dispensed while the

machine was running. For pictures, check out eBay and look for " vitamix 3600. "

I don't know about the original carafe, but the ones marked " Super 3600 " (if the

sticker hasn't been removed) have a spout.
