Guest guest
It won't damage the Vitamix, but it MIGHT pit your container, causing it to be cloudy. Flax is fairly soft, as grains and seeds go, so a one time grind in the wet container probably won't cause issues, but it could cause clouding. > > I don't have the dry container but need to gring some whole flax seeds. Can I do it in the regular container without damaging my Vitamix? >
Guest guest
If you are only interested in grinding flax seeds and not wheat or other kinds of grains for flour then you might want to look into a seed grinder. I got a Proctor Silex several years ago (for $9, I think) and it works great for small quantities of seeds. Here is a link on Amazon to give you an idea of what it is: http://www.amazon.com/Proctor-Silex-E160BY-Coffee-Grinder/dp/B00006IUX5/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid=1337702821 & sr=8-1 HTH!Rena If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.Happy moments, praise God. Difficult moments, seek God. Quiet moments, worship God. Painful moments, trust God. Every moment, thank God. Guest guest
I use a $15 coffee grinder from Target, because to use my VM works great when I put them in with a smoothie, but I don't like grinding a lot of them (read-enough to make them deep enough to grind right in the VM) at a time. I would rather keep them intact, and grind as needed. I have a dedicated inexpensive coffee grinder. The VM works great too, but requires more to be ground at a time. As to damage, I guess maybe over time if you did it a lot it might scratch, but flax is a rather soft seed (at least it seems that way to me if i put a couple in my mouth and bite them).
