Guest guest
Hello Rena,In my shows across the Southeastern states I have discovered that some areas (cities) have more minerals in their water than others, and in THOSE cities, people's containers are VERY cloudy. My container was cloudy until I started cleaning it with a bottle brush.Once the mineral build up has occurred, only an inch-by-inch scrubbing with baking soda paste (made from water and baking soda) and using a while paper towel (so you can see clearly when an area no longer has any film on it) has worked for me to restore a cloudy container to like-new.You won't believe how icky brown the white paper towel will get. Stick to cleaning one area until the paper towel comes clean, then move on…AFTER you get it restored and film-free, use a bottle brush to clean (I think there needs to be some physical contact to clean the film off of the container). Also, if you really have hard water, I'd follow up a soap and water cleaning with a splash of vinegar another quick swipe with the bottle brush (to distribute the vinegar around the sides of the container) then a rinse...Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)www.BlenderLady.com(AKA the Vitamix Lady :-)<))>< On May 17, 2012, at 11:45 AM, Rena Glubay wrote: Hi Shirley,Thanks. I'll give that a try when I get home. For a very long time I used the recommend method of cleaning which is just a little soap, warm water and blend for a minute or two. I got a terrible build up that I have had to SCRUB off. I haven't been able to get it all especially on the bottom and the blades. I think it is terribly misleading for VM to say that the soap and water and blend method is all you need for cleaning the container. It was all clean when I did this. Just looked filmy. It bubbled like mad and I let it sit a few minutes. Then I ran the VM on low for a short whirl; then filled to the top with hot water and let it sit for a while. Finally rinsed well. Really looks nice this morning! I ended up soaking the container with baking soda and white vinegar. Shines like new! It seemed to have a film around the blade and that finished the messy job! THe 64 oz is really tough to get clean with the messy projects…...
