Guest guest
---Not me Stasia. I still am doing bfl even thru all this crappy crappiness i have been dealing with. Even when I was in a manic state..I still tried to eat healthy..even if it was just a protein bar. I am still going at this. I have changed my workout around to a split routine...but eating is still bfl. I am taking the week of christmas off as my normal every 3 months I take a week off routine. it just happens to fall on that week. but naw..this year..heck..I am not even tempted by holiday stuff really..I save it for free day only. which is weird cause usually every holiday I just give up. but you are right..no treats are worth the stuff you can accomplish in a day...or a week! doing bfl..you can make great changes every single week..I have seen that for sure. it is better to stick to it then go off of it. it is not worth it. for me..it is not worth going back to what I was a year ago. at thanksgiving time last year..I was huge..no shape to me..well..you have all seen the before pic. now I am getting my body back. there has been huge challenges this year..but I want you to know I am still going at it. Even when they wanted to put me in the hospital last week I was worried about missing my workouts and not being able to eat right while in the hospital. and my doc knows that now. she knows how important it is to me and I am glad I have conveyed that to her. Do you know what I think Stasia? I think although many former bflers may try different diets..what do they always come back to? I was one of them. Bfl! they always always come back cause it works and you can live with it. this is something I can live with the rest of my life. there is nothing better than being able to eat every 2 hours and have one day a week to eat those treats you want! nothing! this is the easiest funnest plan out there to follow. it is not strict..you don't starve and you have fun making those changes. and you can always switch your workouts when you are bored. but even though I am switching my workouts..my bfl principles have not changed. same way of eating. I just wanted to make sure you know I am still going at it..and Stasia..I will have pics to prove it at the end of next month! the proof will be there! (umm..hopefully it is good proof..lol) I will have my pics up right before I leave for christmas holiday. I must warn...they will only be 11 week pics..but what the heck! I am not gonna give up just cause I am taking the last week of december off. I had to fit it in with our trip. but I am still taking alot of my own food with me...I still have to eat every 2 hours..even if it will just be a string cheese..lol. but I won't say no to going out to sushi many nights that week! lol I take a week off every single challenge..this week I take off will just be more fun! cause I get to see family and friends who have not seen me in months and months! I hope to surprise them! but..I am still here..just have not been to well..but hopefully...maybe things will be getting back to normal with my head. Guest guest
Thanks for posting this, Stasia. I've also been wondering why it's so slow, but I notice that the trend everywhere is to blow off healthy eating and exercise until January 2nd and then rush out and join a gym. Every Jan. I'm really irritated by how crowded the gyms are, because I know that it's just the " fair weather " friends, who will quit by March. I've always been consistent with my workouts, but I'm definitely one of those people who blows off clean eating until the New Year. Well, not this year! I've been doing really well on BFL, seeing some real changes, and I feel great. I don't want to blow it. I'm planning a few free meals between now and New Year's, but I will not go off the plan! Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Actually I just joined here and have been kind of lurking in the background to see how things are done. I'm not very familiar with the setup, so am new to that too. I've been working out and losing weight since January 5, 2003, and have lost 68 pounds so far. I started BFL officially on Nov. 17, 2003 to regain a little organization in my exercise routine. I was already following the eating plan fairly closely on my own, so that was no big change. I love BFL already, but am having a hard time allowing myself a free day, that goes so much against anything I've done all year! My progress so far is documented at the link below. It's my personal site, no ads or selling or anything like that. I'm 5'8 " and am a block! Not much difference from my hip, waist, and bust measurements anymore. I haven't been brave enough to do any bikini pics yet, but maybe someday........nah I doubt it! lol http://www.bondpiano.com/pianolady/pianoladycollage.jpg Pianolady 250/182/
Guest guest
--- I also think people could just be really busy this time of year and not on the pooter as much. or here is another theory. I know some people got freaked out by what happened to me here on the group. it is pretty scary when someone makes up a fake id to get at ya. I know that that freaked some people out from posting. that could be a reason..I just thought of that. I don't think anyone has really given up. me..well we all know why I have been here off and on. and I may be like that sometimes..I am up and down. I am what you would call a " freak " ..lol. anyway..just think people could be busy and maybe overwhelmed with this time of year. I hope everyone is doing okay. Guest guest
I suppose you are right about the holiday mentality. However, it is this mentality that will put an extra 25 pounds on one's a$$ in a heartbeat and it just ain't worth it. I guess I'll never understand why anyone would want to throw away their good progress for a few glasses of eggnog or pieces of pumpkin pie. Come January those folks will be hating themselves for it. Thanks all for the responses. Stasia
Guest guest
I was looking at that grid on the home page that shows our post volume month by month. There are usually tumbleweeds blowing through this place during the holidays, except for November 2001 when we must have been on crack or something. I don't know if I miss those 400-post days. Yipes! It always picks up in January. I'm just wondering if we'll see an even bigger New Year's with Bill's new book coming out tomorrow. I'll bet that lots of familiar faces find their way back in the next few weeks. What I really want to know Is whether people have found some other program to do besides BFL? I have never seen such slow posting, only on other groups who net about three posts a day. Or does no one have time to post anything or what? Has BFL gone out of style? I don't know of any other program that is a for life thing and not just a fad. Not South Beach, not Atkins, not Pritikin, the grapefruit diet or the liquid protein diet. None of them are going to work as well as BFL. I've only got a little more leanness to achieve myself then will post an " after " picture. But I'd rather someone else make poster girl status. So I challenge all of you to get to poster girl status so there will be more motivational photos to inspire us all. Don't wait till after the holidays. Eat clean during the holidays. None of that holiday crap is worth it. How about it folks? Stasia

Guest guest
Well I'm still here! It's just been pretty busy at work since I've returned from vacation so my internet time has been seriously compromised I'm also not doing a " challenge " right now. I'm doing this naturopathic eating thing which is a little more restrictive than BFL and it's working well for me in terms of cravings being gone, energy up etc. I've also started kung fu so I'm doing that 3 days a week, spinning once a week and weights 2x a week. So it's a little different, but I haven't given up yet! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone. I know I certainly have a lot to be thankful for. Hi gang, I haven't posted in a loonnnnggg time due to the fact that I'm traveling to Europe alot for work. I haven't been doing BFL in a big way due to traveling, though I try to balance protein and carbs and eat lots of healthy fats, and I've been doing wall climbing and yoga for a change. I still think BFL is great and plan to start back to weight lifting in January as how else am I going to be able to wrestle my luggage onto trains and planes? I haven't gained back any weight and am in a size 4-6 (from a 16 two years ago). On my 43rd birthday I was unhealthy and miserable and now I feel and look 100% better. I just got blood work done and my HbA1C (diabetes indicator) was great as were all my cholesteral numbers. The nurse said they were some of the best she had seen. All total I have lost around 60 pounds and for my 45th birthday in November I got a boob lift. (Gee I recognize those tits they were the ones I had 20 years ago :-P) My life has changed so much from two years ago and I consider BFL and this group the initial catalyst for all the wonderful changes that have happened to me. So I hope all of you are well and happy and have a really great BFL new year. Jan
Guest guest
Thanks so much for that post. It was quite motivating. Glad to hear you've done so well.
