I have been trying the method you speak of on and off for a year. I have

been sick with an URI for 3 weeks and the 3% H2O2 has not touched it from the

first sign of this damn cold. I have been trying to fight this thing with

every natural remedy I have seen of this list including CS and I still have a

full fledge sinus infection.

I am feeling very frustrated and refuse to go on antibiotics.

It's amazing what we will do to avoid what is already known about

oxygen! A half a cap full of H2O2 in each ear 15 min. and you don't need

anything else! My goodness how simple and cheap can it get! If you think

it will help I'll sell you a bottle of 3% H2O2 four $75.00 so you can

feel like you are getting what you paid for, for goodness sake something

that works that well can't be cheap!!!

Dear Klink,

Many people have been finding that their sinus problems are

being caused by fungus in the nasal passages. Antibiotics wouldn't

help that anyway. I have no specific info on this subject, just

making a suggestion that may help you recover. I've read that some

Docs are starting to recognize this fungal relationship and are

prescribing anti-fungal meds. However a search on the web may reveal

some alternative treatments. Perhaps the " candidiasis " list on

egroups will have some archives on this subject.

Good luck....

Neil

It has been suggested to me that one therapy to try is tea tree oil in a

nebulizer or atomizer, sprayed into the nostrils and sinus cavities.

I haven't tried this myself, as I do not have a nebulizer or atomizer yet.

Anyone else heard of this therapy?

YES I have tried that and also h202 in the ears for 10 min each ear and also

h202

in a cool mist humidifier in the bedroom going all night long and NONE of these

aborted or

helped clear up a cold for me!!

I have not had a cold or viral illness of any sort in over a year now but I work

with elementary age germ bag kids and am exposed

all the time to viruses. Saline nasal cleansing helps me

stay well. HOW?? Well

In May of '99, I wrote to Dr. Murray Grossan, an LA ENT who invented

the Grossan tip sinus irrigator attatchment for the water pik

to tell him I had not had a cold in a long time and to tell him

that my sinus health was very good and also to thank him for being

such a genius, and this is his reply to me:

Actually the thanks go to you and the patients who have been telling me

for years that daily irrigation helps them avoid colds and allergies.

Like most dummies, I nodded my head and forgot it. One day a patient

insisted I investigate and lo and behold there is a chemical called ICAM

1 located on the suface of the nasal membrane through which the cold

virus enters the body. No ICAM 1, no way for cold virus to enter. So

irrigation does reduce colds. Next, Nasal allergy needs a substance

called IgE to react to, also located on the surface of the nose. No IgE,

no way for the pollen/dust to react with the body. So daily irrigation

during the allergy season works. From now on, I swear, I will listen to

my patients! Pleasure hearing from you.

I think you will find that you will get many FEWER colds and

viral-type illnesses doing nose washing.

I work with those germ bag kids at school every day and

many many of them are always sick! I did not have one single cold or virus

in all of 2000! So if nosewashing does that for me,

THINK what it can do for YOU!

I was interested to buy the Zicam zinc nasal gel spray because

I have to fly next month from Calif. to Colorado and

there are always sick people coughing on the airplanes

and I will be stuck for hours on the plane ----breathing all

that re-circulated germ-laden air--UGH--!!!!!

Of course I will cleanse my nose once I get to my destination but I thought

for peace of mind, I'd try using the ZICAM nasal gel on the plane.

Please expand on using hydrogen peroxide in the ear to prevent colds. I

had an email awhile back about it that I have been looking for and can't

find...someone swearing by it.

This is from Dr. Jon Alt Med website http://www.cat007.com

>> It's important to begin treatment as soon as symptoms appear.

>> Lie on your side and administer a few drops of 3% H2O2 in the

ear. There will be some bubbling and in some cases mild stinging.

Wait until the bubbling subsides (usually 5 to 10 minutes), then

drain ear onto tissue and repeat with other ear.

>> Repeat treatment two or more times at one or two hour intervals

until there is no more bubbling.

>> Don't get H2O2 in the eyes. If you do, flush them with water.

Dr. reports this treatment eliminates cold and flu within 24

hours in 80% of cases.
