Hi Guys, VERY Important question:

Is anyone on an " approved Bariatric Provider List " for insurance

companies?

I keep hitting a run around when I pursue this.

Thanks

I don't think I am. I work out of a community hospital and the billing

is done thru the hospital. We do surgeries here but I would say that

most pt's nutrition consult is not covered by their insurance.

Thanks,

Hi,

Let me jump in here about some information regarding the chicken pox

vaccine.

It is relatively ineffective - particularly in the long term. Many

pediatricians advise you to wait because if the children are relatively

healthy, it is better to get the 'natural immunity' by having the chicken

pox than by getting the vaccine. The 'natural immunity' is effective long

term (that's why the majority of people only get it one time in their life)-

there have only been a few studies (one of which I know of in detail from

Japan) analyzing the long term effectiveness of the vaccine and it is very

small - perhaps not even 12 months. There are no available boosters as far

as I know (although it has been awhile since I checked). If children get it

older, it is more dangerous (sometimes in severe cases it can lead to

sterility) - so if that becomes a concern and the vaccine becomes more

effective, then it is a good idea to get it when the child is preteen or

pre-pubescent.

There is a growing concern that since so many children who have the vaccine

are actually getting the chicken pox that the vaccine is ineffective against

a possible newly discovered chicken pox strain (or strains) that the vaccine

does not protect against.

I don't want to be the cause of any undue alarm for people who have given

their children the vaccine - it is relatively safe, even if it is

ineffective. And yes, there are some cases reported that those who do get

the chicken pox who have had the vaccine have a milder case - although that

really isn't well documented from what I have seen (again, the concern is

what strain of the chicken pox have these vaccinated children really

gotten??) -

This is all my 'educated' opinion - I have a PhD in biochemistry/molecular

biology - just to offer my background.

Thanks for the info, Robin-

-My pediatrician really wants Lily to get the vaccine since her

immunity is lowered (but getting beter). But we both agree that

sinces there's a 6% chance of the vaccine giving the chicken pox, and

since my daughter will certainly do something against the norm if

given the chance <g> we keep putting it off. Although - he does want

to give my husband the shot, since he's never had chicken pox and, as

you said, it could be dangerous for him.

Robin,

:P You sound like my pediatrician :) Thanks for the info. I do know

that there is some " type " of booster now, thats what my ped said

anyway. That even if I gave Nate the vaccine, he would need a booster

within 7 to 10 years (preteen years) to ensure he wont get it as an

adult. He went into all of the " ineffectiveness " and such as well. He

only recommended it if the child was over 10 and had not had the

chicken pox yet.

You can get them twice. If you had a mild case when you were young,

or if you were exposed to a stronger strain that was a lot different

compared to the one you had as a child. Unfortunatly, my ped said

that many teens and young adults are getting these " new versions " of

chicken pox, even after having it as young children. Sounds like FUN!!

Just one more thing to worry about!! We've decided to just put Nate

and Alley in a bubble for the rest of thier lives. :) jk... I dont

know what would be worse! A bubble for life or nasty diseases....

hmmm... LOL

Hey Group:

I've been in the hospital for 8 days 7 nights getting IV/Oral Antibiotics; so I

have contracted numerous germs and will have more problems this winter. Been

there/done that with every test!!! I don't think the Infectionuous disease,

Oncologist, or PCP can all agree on what caused the infection. The Vascular

Specialist did say that it was 'not' a blood clot.

Regarding the Pneumonia shot, I have been getting it for many years. I have been

told every 3, 5, and this year. . . now I guess it has been inproved, so that we

only need 1 for life. . . or it depends on who you get your information from . .

.. they agree to disagree on this also.

Take care, and as always, you guys are in my prayers.

My daughter used something called Xersox. It can be found on this website:

_www.Xero-sox.com_ (http://www.Xero-sox.com)

It is completely waterproof..you can go swimming with it if you want to.

They use it for casts but can be used for PICCs too.

Don't leave it on for more than 30 minutes as it will stop the circulation

in your arm.

Great product.

Hi Dominie and all, I got the Challenger magazine today. I'm not even a Christian and I loved Dominie's story and all of the others. It is quite the interesting magazine. I think I'll send in a subscription request for my Christian brother and Sister in law. Thanks for having it sent to me Dominie. I am loving my new pharmacy. The pharmacist who is the owner, manager, and everything else is a great man. I was complaining to him about my doctor reducing me to Norco from Percocet. Bless his heart he told me to take 2 Norco until he could convince my Dr. to put me back on Percocet. I kid you not, 2 Norco with the methocarbamol and lorazapam kill my pain almost 100%. It doesn't knock me out, make me woozy or anything and yet when I do go to bed I fall right to sleep. It is better then one Percocet 10/325. He takes care of my whole family, remembers our names, and even gave me my antidepressant free last month, instead of the normal $35 co pay. I feel like he

knows FMS better then my doctors. I also tale Sam-e on his advise to keep my liver clean. I very much look forward to getting to know all of you. Is there anyone in Washington or Oregon? How about on Myspace? My dad is on there as well as the rest of my family so yes, at 43 I am on myspace every day. Have a wonderful weekend. I wish you many blessings.hugs,Danille

Hi Danille - So glad you liked Challenger magazine. The issue that

my " I Couldn't Sleep " story appeared in (Vol. 46, No. 2) had many

compelling stories from other people as well. I remember reading it

cover to cover with great interest! (If anyone wants a copy of that

issue, please write me at dombush@...) - Dominie

I do have a myspace. My address is nadine_13. My page is set to private, but if you send me a friend request, I'll add you. I'm in Ohio. If you do the whole www.myspace/nadine_13 it should pull me up. I guess (I've heard from others, that there are quite a few Nadine's out there.) Who would have thought? Hope to talk with you soon!
