Guest guest
Hi! Did my first workout of 2006 this morning - Fit Prime's Metaboost lead by Heidi Tanner. I loved it! I knew I would, since i had enjoyed doing these over the spring/summer of 2005. I woke up pretty early and energized, not sure if taking it easy on Sunday helped or that I knew I would be doing something other than or Tony this morning. I love them both, but I got sick of the sight of them after a month! Anyway, briefly, this is a FIRM-style workout - very reminiscent of the old FIRMs with the elaborate set (flaming statutes make an appearance in this one!) and 'serious' attitude - it incorporates cardio (this workout's cardio sections - I think there were two of them- were low impact and used light weights), stretching ( Benson, the creator calls it " yoga " but I call it stretching), core work ( again calls it " pilates " but I don't consider it Pilates) and weight training. The weight training, IMHO, is where the workout excels (and where most of the other FitPrime, Kickbutts and Firm workouts excel) - lots of different variations on the standards, often working multiple muscle groups at the same time for an added challenge to balance, cardio, stability, etc. The workout is about 50 minutes long and is not " draining " at all. The music is great and coordinates very well with the movements and the production quality is excellent - colorful and bright. I also think it is a pretty effective workout, especially if you listen carefully and follow the cues - Heidi is a very good instructor and gives great form pointers so you can get the most of the workout. I'd rate it at an intermediate level. I think I'll get either a short yoga or a short Pilates session in later while my DD takes her nap. I have FlexPosture - another FitPrime up for tomorrow - I'm doing them in order, for lack of a better idea (Metaboost was Vol 1., Flexposture Vol 2, etc.) I didn't particularly like this one the last time I tried it - I think I tried it twice - and I always substituted Kari 's Angles, Lines & Curves II whenever it came up in the rotation - but I thought I'd give it another go tomorrow. Yesterday's food intake wasn't horrible -only two treats and the total damage was only about 250 calories -- . I did get my water in and I met or exceeded veggie goals. I think I only got one fruit in, though. I seem to do better when I go to work b/c I bring it with me in the morning so there is less of a chance that I'll find something else to eat. I did share a bottle of wine w/ DH though - not bad, but some excess calories I didn't need. I definately have some " rolls " from the holidays that I'd like to shrink. Take care everyone!
