Guest guest
Katy, I find it easy to start slowly with an exercise program and add more as I feel up to it. After recovering from my last child I started with Pilates just 15 minutes a day 5 days a week. Then I switched out a day of Pilates for aerobics. Then another. Then I added a day of weights. And so on until I built up to a program I could maintain. Its easy to get discouraged if you aren't doing all you scheduled so I schedule what I can do:) Good lick Kathleen wrote: > Hello everyone I am new. Guest guest
Hi Katy, Welcome. I love pilates and kickboxing. :-) Take each day as it comes and enjoy it. For me, the more I enjoy the workout...the more I tend to do it. The results just seem to come naturally. As a matter of fact, this group introduced me to kickboxing. I was (and still am..LOL) such a klutz, but I just have so much fun doing it. Robin
Guest guest
hi katy and welcome, don't wait lets start NOW.exercise, if only for 5-10 mins a day. its a good way to start getting you back into the habits of healthy eating and exercising. when your kids get back to school then you can add another 5-10 mins if you can. before you know it your right up there at 30-60 mins of any kind of exercise a day. i had to start slowly myself. i only did the cardio portions of denise austin's show on lifetime then i was doing the whole show, then the second show that followed that, then i started buying workout videos. the "addiction" started from there LOL. i am sure you will see how a lot of us get the workouts in despite life's obsticales blocking us. just focus on how good you feel when you get your body moving. i found that when i didn't focus on losing weight, but just eating healthy and exercising to feel good, the weight came off on its own. now i set my goals on what strengths i want to build and how i want to build my muscles rather then losing weight itself. once you get into the habit it will be a hard one to break. hope to hear more from you on this group kassia __________________________________________________
Guest guest
hi katy, i just wanted to add too that i either get up early each morning or set aside time before bed to do some yoga, even if only for 20 mins. i find that if i center myself and focus on myself it makes other aspects of my health a lot easier. plus it helps stretch out the body and that helps relieve stress and tension. kassia__________________________________________________
Guest guest
HI Katy, Welcome! I started to exercise again after my third child was 1 1/2 last May. My exercise schedule has changed since I began --from nights to early morning, I have had to stop and start again because of illness or injury...Just do what you can at first and wonderful things will follow. Congratulations on making the decision for a healthier you!! Stacey > > Hello everyone I am new. This is a busy group and I'm making a huge > jump to join it. Guest guest
Thank you all who wrote encouraging e-mails. I have not started off well at all this morning. I got hit with a strange bout of flu. It's like every cell in my body is inflammed. I'm going to wait until Monday or Tuesday to do anything. I may do some rebounding here and there to pump my lymphatic system. Katy Hi Katy,Welcome. I love pilates and kickboxing. :-) Take each day as it comes and enjoy it. Guest guest
hi katy!! welcome to the group, it is nice to meet you here! my story goes like this: when i had my first baby at age 36, i waited until he was 8 months old and then started doing a basic taebo workout each day for 30 mins. i was so surprised that i lost the 30 pounds that i had gained by the time he was one year old. all it took was some movement, and i tell ya, there is nothing that is better than a full body kickboxing workout to burn lots of calories/fat. actually i was in such good shape that my body decided it was time to be pregnant again. during my pregnancy with #2, i didnt workout and ate alot of stuff and, well, i ended up with an extra 25 pounds when it was all over. so, again, i waited until #2 was 11 months old and started working out again. i did taebo again but decided to add some other activities like floor aerobics, step aerobics, weight training, stretching, pilates and so on. i had a lot of fun but didnt change my eating habits much and struggled to lose weight. i went on like this for a few years until i finally decided to seriously change my food intake and i started doing weight watchers. very quickly, the pounds came off and i was in excellent physical condition... fitting into clothes that i couldnt wear for years! unfortunately, i then got quite sick with pneumonia and struggled to workout and eat properly. i ended up dropping out of weight watchers and not working out as much and ended up gaining 15 pounds back over the following year ::sigh:: so, now, here i am working on getting rid of that again through exercise and proper eating. from my experience, the journey to fitness sure isnt easy... full of ups and downs... and it is a long road to travel, but i continue to get alot of enjoyment out of my workouts and feel so good when i accomplish my daily goals. i dont really care what kind of workout i do anymore... as long as i do *something* every day and dont pig out on unhealthy food. ive learned that it is a mental battle more than anything, and ive also learned how good it feels to give myself some sort of priority in my life. so do yourself a favour and forget about the kids and the housework and whatever else you do that is taking all of your time and concentrate on loving yourself for 30 mins each day. think about all of the other things that you do for other people for 30 mins a day... it really isnt that long! and your workouts dont have to be really hard and intimidating. taebo can sometimes be tough but please remember that billy and his gang are professional exercisers and that you will need to give yourself permission to do the exercises at your own pace. before you know it, you will be feeling better and doing better at every single thing in your life because you have given yourself a chance for 30 mins a day. it is quite astonishing and miraculous, really. im now 42 and in menopause and that makes it a bit harder to make the fat go away, but it doesnt really matter. all that matters is how i feel inside and that i feel proud of myself and happy. working out and eating right makes me feel good, so i try hard to do it! btw, im also a SAHM and know that is a full time job and more, so i think that it might be a good idea to sit down with your kids and tell them that you must exercise and eat right so that you can feel good and be able to take care of them. ask them for their help! the kids can be quite motivating... most kids love to run around and will want to join in with your workouts if you let them. take a lesson from them and see the fun and joy in being active. they will also remind you to exercise if you try to slack off anyway, this is getting long so i need to end here, but please know that we are all here to support each other, no matter where each of us are in our fitness journeys. we are so thrilled that you are here and are gearing up to start working on yours! please post often!! :*carolyn. Guest guest
Rebounding is a lot of fun BUT. (You guys are gonna think I'm a chronic complainer) I have Plantar fasciitis and a heel spur which hurts pretty bad when I come down on my rebounder. Some days are better than others. It's what kept me a size 3 for 4 years after my 2nd baby was born. Katy man, i am dying to try rebounding!!! im sorry to hear that you arent feeling well today katy. hang in there and feel better soon.:*carolyn. -- No virus found in this outgoing message.Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.Version: 7.1.371 / Virus Database: 267.14.1/206 - Release Date: 12/16/2005
