Guest guest
welcome hanne, the only thing i can suggest is cathe b/c of the intensity and she cues pretty well so its easy to follow. do you have any of her kickbox videos? i believe she only had 4 cardio kicks, kick punch crunch, kick max, and kickbox from her CTX series. kassia Photos – Showcase holiday pictures in hardcover Photo Books. Guest guest
Hanne, If you are doing step workouts you can raise the step to 8 inches to get a better workout (if you haven’t done this already, I think 8 inches is the highest recommended for step aerobics) One thing I do with the more complicated choreography is to do 1 segment at a time and learn it. I will do it every day until I learn it and then add the next segment repeat until I am done. It helps me really learn the segments and I don’t count it as my workout until I am doing it all. In my workout journal I will write Tried so and so did segments such and so tripped over my own feet. I guess it sounds tedious, but I like the feeling of accomplishing something. If a tape is so easy to master the first time through even if it is a great workout I get bored easily. I’m working through Cathe’s Low Max now. I’ve just started so I’m still on the warmup lol. But yesterday I tripped over my feet less than the day before so I feel like I am learning. Other than that I have no suggestions. I know some people have used weighted gloves for kickboxing. I am more of an intermediate in cardio work so I’m not sure what workouts can give you the hard workout you really want. I like dance workouts because you can give more and get more out of it, but that probably won’t work for you (unless you add a lot of extra moves). I also like aerobics using weights (like The Firms, I like the older ones better – Super Cardio Mix always kicks my butt though with all those jumps) I’m not sure if you add weights to your cardio but I find a combo of weights and cardio to be the best way to lose weight quickly. Especially if I get stuck at a weight. BTW I’m I live in the Netherlands with my bf and our three wonderful childrenJ I exercise mostly to reduce stress/depression and to be able to deal with the hectic lifestyle of a mom on the go. We have an active lifestyle so we bike (or walk) just about everywhere (well I bike, the kids ride, the bf likes to drive his car lol) I also like to exercise with my kids, because it is fun (isn’t that why we have kids to have fun with them?)! I’m sure one of the more advanced ladies will have some great advice for you. Good luck! From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Hanne Eliassen Sent: Wednesday, January 11, 2006 4:47 PM Subject: Easy choreography, hard cardio video? Hello group! This is my first post, so let me introduce myself first. I'm 31, living in Oslo, Norway with my fiance, and I have worked out with fitness videos since I found Tae Bo Cardio this summer. By now I have almost all Tae Bo videos ever released, as well as some from Cathe, Gin and a few others. I love to be able to work out at home whenever I feel like it! No more excuses. I also love running, and with a cold wet winter outside right now, I'm looking for workouts that will help give me a better start of the running season some time in March. Right now it's simply too wet, cold and icy to run outside! My main goals are to lose 25 pounds, and to build a cardio base before I start running and training for a half-marathon in May. Now for my question - I have lots of Tae Bo videos and a few others, but I have yet to find one that gives me a hard cardio workout. Many tapes are too slow-paced for me, and many of the new Tae Bo tapes have too much strength emphasis. On the other hand, many of the advanced tapes I have tried have too advanced choreography, so I have to stop working out and either rewind the DVD or march/run in place until I'm able to follow the workout again. I guess what I'm looking for is something with few combinations, but fast, so that I get my heart rate up. Do any of you have any ideas to new videos that I can try? Also, how can I make the DVDs I already have harder cardio-wise? Thanks for any input you can give me, I'm a bit frustrated now! Hanne in Norway -- No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
hello hanne! it is nice to meet you here! im carolyn, age 42, living in ontario canada! ive been using exercise videos since year 2000 and i started out with taebo too! however, i have to say that 'cardio' is not one of billy's fastest, hardest workouts. can you get his 'get ripped' advanced workouts? i find those to be much harder. how about cathe's kickboxing workouts? for example, collagevideo.com says that 'kick max' is an advanced workout but has basic choreography. or, if you are looking for cardio that is not kickboxing, how about 'reebok intense moves' with gin miller? in order to get more out of 'taebo cardio' try holding light weights in your hands and see if that helps at all. i wouldnt use any heavier weight than 2 pounds in each hand for kickboxing though -- you merely want to mimic the weight of boxing gloves. :*carolyn. Guest guest
Hi Hanne! You've gotten some great advice so far on increasing the intensity of the workouts you currently own. Have you tried Gin 's Simply Step? That is a good one - with basic choreography and you can increase the intensity by using a higher step height. Another instructor I like who uses easy to follow choreography is Charlene Prickett - I would recommend some of her step workouts for you - particularly Every Body Steps and Crazy for Step. These can be pretty intense if you use a high step (8 inches - Charlene uses 10 - but that is too scary for me!) Interval workouts would probably give you a run for your money as well - particularly Gin 's Intense Moves (as Carolyn mentioned). Cathe also has some interval workout - but for basic choreography I would recommend her original Interval Max, not her IMAX 2 or 3 - as those are more choreographed. Although I've never tried her - I believe Mindy Mylrea has some intense athletic style workouts. I believe you can find her workouts at www.ciavideo.com Hope that helps! And, I'm Donna - 38, married, one daughter and living in the U.S. I have been working out with videos for years now!!! Since the early '90's Tahe care and welcome! Guest guest
HI Hanne, I am currently doing the Power 90 DVD set from Beachbody and the 2 cardio workouts in that set are great! 1-2 is the beginner workout to get you used to the moves and 3-4 really kicks up the intensity. The moves are the same justhigher intensity and an extra repition. WE CAN DO THIS!!As long as the day lasts, let's give it all we've got.- O. Guest guest
I would suggest hand weights! I either use my boxing gloves which I think are a pound each....or I use my 2lb each hand weights. It may not sound like it would do much, but it really does....... BTW, welcome!!! Darcy who is a fellow tae-boer as well.......... At 09:46 AM 1/11/2006, you wrote: >Hello group! > >This is my first post, so let me introduce myself first.
