I want to thank everyone for their advice and helpful info on the whole washing

machine delema. I relayed all the info you gave to my parents. My mother was set

on getting a top loader even though she was also kind of interested in a front

loader a young man showed us at best buy.

Of course after shopping around they decided on the very first (and fanciest)

washer they looked at. yes it has all the bells a whisles plus some. It was the

whirlpool Cabrio WTW6800W. and on the plus side whent here is nothing on tv she

can have fun watching her new machine wash through the clear glass top. It is a

top loader which is very larger. 5.0sqft washer. The best deal was at lowes

which for not much more we would have 5yr guarentee with manentence so i guess

they come out and look at it once a year to make sure everything is fine before

something magor occurs. and she will throw in a bottle of HE detergent.

My mother figures she can do 2 or 3 loads of wash at once and save time water

and energy. granted she said it will take longer as normaly wash takes 30 min

and it appears here it takes 50 or 60 min. in the end it works out the same if

you can wash 2xs as much.

anyways thanks everyone for their info. I am excited, i want to gather up all my

wash and try it out on my own clothes. lol

oh BTW the washer died at 45 years old not 40 as I thought. poor thing.

> Wow, to think your mom got 40 years from a washing machine. That might be a

record!

with my Whirlpool front loader. It saves on water, electricity, and soap over a

top loader; so, if you're looking for something " green, " check those out. The

bad thing about them is that they don't have a lint filter in the washer and

that they are initially expensive. The savings should balance that out in time,

though. I've had mine for hmm. . . seven years? Before I started making my own

laundry soap, I'd buy a big gallon of ERA and it would take me the better part

of a year to use up, and I do quite a bit of laundry.

broke and the repairman said it would cost too much to fix and that I'd might as

well buy a new one! I had 6 kids at home, and did at least two loads every day,

but still. . .

have one they like and is holding up? the repair man said there is nothing we

can do to fix it. it's terminal and unoperable. if he goes in to fix one thing

the whole thing can crumble.

get a cheep one as they wont last long no matter how expensive. any thoughts??
