happy new year all lets start the new year with a new workout . i just finished pilates sculpt that i got for xmas. i am taking a week of pilates, light cardio, and yoga to take a breather then build myself back up again. well anyway i would say this workout makes me think karen voight's core essentials(with more use of weights and more focus on overall body instead of lower and abs) with a firm flavor to it(alternating and combining upper and lower body exercises). it was a mix of traditional body sculpting movements with light handweights and traditional pilates work. it has a short standing routine with basic body sculpt movments like squats and lunges with upper body workout for strength and balance. my favorite was the back lunge with bicep curl but when you come up from the lunge you hold your knee up. a real test for balance for me this morning. the

floor segments they alternate with upper body then lower body then an abs segment. i like the use of light weights for opposite arm opposite leg movment and even took it into a rear delt/tricep movements for a little extra boost while trying to hold proper from. it was something new to work on and help with balance without burning out the muscles. some of the floorwork was traditional movments taken to their level. like chest flyes but legs in chair pose to engage abs, and than take that movment to single arm chest flyes which i had to focus on trunk b/c i was ready to roll in the direction of the weights. like working the whole body in one exercise. it isn't a high rep light weight workout. you use light weights to focus on the movement to get the most out of it and they don't do a lot of reps but they change the tempo and angles of reps at times which make the workout more challenging. the instructors tracy york and michelle dozois, alternate

instructing the workout while the other show modifications. they cue pretty well and build up to the advanced modifications while the other show the beginner modification. its set in a living room type studio with house plants and cushy chairs but it gave it a nice feel to the workout. they weren't overly pepping like in other videos but they weren't dull and dry. i wouldn't know how to describe the music but it was all instrumental but it seemed to drown out in the background as i focused on the workout and their cueing. i thought this workout would be a harder but i did feel alot of the movements.i am not dissappointed and plan it for add-ons or for lighter days. its different, fun, and the hour just flew by. the instructors are ones that i have worked out with before and trust their workouts and find them challenging without killing myself. you can also play with this workout by making weights lighter or heavier. just something to play with

the next time happy new year kassia
