Guest guest
That's too much food for rapid fat loss. Don't multiply your over-weight weight by 12. The slow fat loss w/muscle gain formula (x12) works best for people who are already at their goal weight. For maximum fat loss multiply your weight by 8-10. You would be 1328-1660. Nick would be 1736-2170. I can't remember if you said you were breast feeding. You may need to add a couple hundred cals. See how you feel and how your fat loss is going and adjust accordingly. It's nearly impossible to come up with the perfect magic numbers on paper. You have to actually do it for a while to find what works best for you, which means the whole math marathon is a little overrated. Eat well and train hard. If you're exhausted and starving, make the portions bigger. If nothing's happening, make them smaller. When you feel good and your clothes are getting looser, you know you're right on the money. Re: advice please Stasia Stasia, I hope you don't mind me piggy-backing off of this post, but I have an issue. Yesterday someone posted the formula for finding the number of grams of protein, carb and fat needed for each meal. As I worked through this formula for both myself and my husband, I came up with 33g's of pro. and carb. for me and 44 for my husband. My husband is very suspicious of these numbers as it increases his food dramatically. I would rather do this by numbers than palm/fist because we have almost the same size hands but he's much taller and bigger overall and when we do palm/fist we end up with similar size portions. I also have a problem successfully using the palm/fist, I can never tell if I'm over or under serving myself. Are these, indeed, accurate numbers and how do I explain that though it might be bigger than his palm/fist, it's still the right portion. thanks, victoria nick 217 x 12 = 2604 victoria 166 x 12 = 1992 nick 2604 x .40 = 1042 calories from protein 2604 x .40 = 1042 calories from carbs 2604 x .20 = 521 calories from fat victoria 1992 x .40 = 797 calories from protein 1992 x .40 = 797 calories from carbs 1992 x .20 = 398 calories from fat nick 1042 divided by 4 calories per gram = 260.5 grams of protein 1042 divided by 4 calories per gram = 260.5 grams of carbs 521 divided by 9 calories per gram = 58 grams of fat victoria 797 divided by 4 calories per gram = 199 grams of protein 797 divided by 4 calories per gram = 199 grams of carbs 398 divided by 9 calories per gram = 44 grams of fat nick 260.5 grams divided by 6 = 43 grams of protein per meal 260.5 grams divided by 6 = 43 grams of carbs per meal 33.3 grams divided by 6 = 9.6 grams of fat per meal victoria 199 grams divided by 6 = 33 grams of protein per meal 199 grams divided by 6 = 33 grams of carbs per meal 44 grams divided by 6 = 7.3 grams of fat per meal
Guest guest
Hey thanks , that's great advice. I've got fat calipers on the way so as soon as they arrive I'll be able to get a more realistic idea of what's lean, what's fat, and I can go from there. The numbers you suggested sound just about perfect. I am breastfeeding but I'm wary of using that as an excuse to overeat. I'm eating A LOT of veggies, A LOT. I figure that if I'm ravenous I'll just add an extra, small, extremely clean meal--like frozen blueberries and cottage cheese. Thanks again. all the best, victoria
Guest guest
Hi , not all kids react in the same way, what is fantastic for some can be the worst supplement for the others, don't assume just because something is used a lot by other people (and by DAN doctors) it is the right treatment/supplement for your child. Please do not question the biomed, but rather question each particular supplement you use. Our son made great gains on some things, and reacted terribly to others, if we were to continue everything we started on the advice of our DAN he would be just as bad now, I am certain of that. btw Supernutera was one of the things he regressed on, also calcium supplements...
