While not necessary for most workout videos, it is

very nice to have the option of a bar. I especially

like them for chest presses and tricep extensions

while in a supine position.

You can also really load up on weight with a barbell,

and yes, many bars do weigh around 5 lbs. though mine

I think is a bit less than that.
