Guest guest
There are 2 schools of thought about dairy. I've seen reports that say dairy can help weightloss, and other say that they have better results without it. I personally have a mild allergy to it. It causes excess mucus to build up and causes a post nasal drip that makes me choke at night. No joke, I can NOT have pizza for dinner and expect a restful sleep. So for me I was willing to chance the 'better without it' side of thinking and drop dairy (well about 99%, I will occasionally have a little piece of cheese maybe every few weeks). Guest guest
--- I am actually in the school of thought that looses weight with dairy! And I thought that was weird for along time that I could loose weight with dairy..but I also read like you have Su that dairy can help you loose weight..your body needs the calcium in it to help let the fat go loose. so it made sense for me then. I know there are lot's of dairy alternatives though huh? so you can use those right? if you miss dairy sometimes and want something like that? Guest guest
--- Really..coolness...do they make organic skim milk? I know it must be more expensive though huh? Kathi In , " Eve C. Guest guest
I drink organic skim milk and it tastes " cleaner " to me. No strange after taste. I thought it was my imagination so I did a little taste test on my mom. She agreed. It is about double the price here in STL > --- Really..coolness...do they make organic skim milk? Guest guest
That makes sense for you to avoid dairy then, Su. I handle it really well. But I've also read and heard conflicting information. I've read that drinking milk and eating yogurt can help you lose weight because of the calcium, and that taking other calcium is not the same. But I've also heard that many of the fitness competitors cut out dairy because it stalls fat loss. I think at the moment I have many other things to tackle, like eating clean, not bingeing, getting my six meals in, getting in enough protein, etc., that I won't worry about the cottage cheese and sugar- free yogurt. I think stuff like that can be cut out when you're very near your goal weight, which I'm not. Anway, thanks for the input. Devyn > > > When I still allowed dairy in my diet I used them. Things like CLA are apparently found in much greater amounts in organic milk so I think that skim organic would probably also strip it from its nutrients. -- -eve

Any women here drink organic milk? does it taste >any differet? I like to drink/eat organic whenever possible, and I think it tastes better. A big benefit of organic milk is that it is hormone free, and (depending on Canada's standards, you live in Canada, right?) the cows will likely be vegetarian instead of being fed bits of other cows, which is one of the way diseases get spread to humans. Plus the more organic food we buy, the more the prices will come into line with non-organic foods :0) Summer _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8: Get 6 months for $9.95/month. http://join.msn.com/?page=dept/dialup

Organic food is much more labor-intensive than non-organic. But I do think the prices will eventually go down a bit... also I hope that more people will realize that you get what you pay for. Organic produce often tastes better, has better nutrients, and quite often is raised on farms with above-average labor practices. This reminds me of a recent article on French eating habits versus American eating habits. The entire article can be found here: http://content.health.msn.com/content/article/72/81854.htm but here's an excerpt... " Researchers weighed portions at 11 similar eateries in Paris and Philadelphia -- fast-food outlets, pizzerias, ice cream parlors, and ethnic restaurants. The average portion size in Paris was 25% smaller than in Philly. Chinese restaurants in Philly served meals that were 72% bigger than Parisian Chinese restaurants. They looked at foods sold in supermarkets: A candy bar in Philadelphia was 41% larger than the same candy bar sold in Paris. A soft drink was 52% larger, and a hot dog was 63% larger. A carton of yogurt was 82% larger. " I think that if we get food that tastes better and is more nutritionally rich, like organics tend to be, we could be more satisfied with smaller portions. Guest guest
I think iHorizon milk is yummy. They also make cottage cheese and it is so creamy. I buy it for my kids and as a treat. Unfortunately they don't make a non fat. I wish they did. Bridgette > > --- I am actually in the school of thought that looses weight with > > dairy!
