Guest guest
I'm looking for a new workout my mom might enjoy. She likes shorter workouts and low impact. I went over to the Beachbody site (because their workouts look like fun to me) and did that Body Transformation Profile thingie with her info and it says Yoga Booty Ballet is good for her. Has anyone tried this workout? I'd love to hear a review from someone who has tried this. They also mentioned Slim in 6 if anyone has any thoughts on that one. My mom is having a lot of trouble with her knees since she gained some weight (I think she said she is 170 pounds now) I really need something to motivate her as I can't be there to force her to workout (well not force, but motivate and encourage) I'd like to see her lose some weight and have less problems with her knees. She does want to lose the weight but its been a hard year for her and I think she just needs a bit of encouragement. I sent her some workouts a while ago and that helped for a while but she always works too hard and forgets to take care of herself. So I really need a motivator - something fun that doesn't feel like exercise.. We used to workout together and she was in such good shape then (still a bit overweight but she likes to eat) But when I moved she just stopped. She has tried one of the Charlene Prickett ones but she wasn't impressed (her words were its not bad). Her birthday just passed so I figured I could always send her a little something and see if she likes it. Any other ideas? Thanks
Guest guest
Maybe the 1 mile WATP? or some pilates? http://pixelated24.blogspot.com It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop. Guest guest
Hi , The Yoga Booty Ballets are fun - I have the original " Goddess " set - there are also some newer YBBs out there, too (Kathy has those). As to whether or not your mom will like them -- hmm, does she like dance and yoga? These workouts fuse dance, yoga, ballet and Pilates. They are uniquely motivating and make you feel good about yourself when you're done. the set I have is all filmed outdoors which is nice. Here is a quick run down: YBB Basic - is basically a " sampler " of the different techniques/workout styles used in YBB. It contains some dance, some ballet, some light weight toning (sort of FIRM-ish in that you are doing multiple muscle groups and lots of " 4-limb " type moves), some yoga, some abs(Pilates-ish) and a stretch - this is all done in under an hour. YBB Advanced - has a more intricate dance combo (I actually didn't like it all that much - but I need to give it another try - as I recall, it didn't do much for my heart rate) followed by a very nice ballet section and a very nice yoga stretch. YBB Sculpt - is half sculpting - light weight/high rep multiple muscle-4-limb type stuff followed by a yoga section - more active type yoga. YBB Abs - 3 12-min Pilates inspired ab workouts. Overall it's a good series, I think. I would like to get the " lives " at some point, too. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Donna, Thanks for the review. I always love your reviews. It does sound like something mom might enjoy. She likes dance and has never tried yoga before (because she thinks its for skinny flexible people or NewAgers, I think a daily yoga practice would help as much as any aerobics and in a blended style she might enjoy it) And if she doesn't like it I probably would lol. I guess thats the good part - I enjoy a variety of workouts according to my mood so if she hates something I'll probably love it anyway Though a lot of the workouts I would consider for her would be add on type workouts for me. Its still a good deal however you look at it:) Donna M-P wrote: > Hi , > > The Yoga Booty Ballets are fun - I have the original > " Goddess " set - there are also some newer YBBs out > there, too (Kathy has those).
