Guest guest
Hi, Have the Sain' Hoola Hoops got MSG in them, because ordinary ones have, haven't they? Rapeseed oil in Vegetable oil? We thought Geth reacted to Kallo rice crackers. The only answer we ever drew was that he might have a problem digesting brown rice. (They are made from brown rice, yes?) Guest guest
Hi Mandi, How did you go off the diet? Did your child just not need it, or are you doing enzymes? Geth doesn't react to anything, as far as we've been able to work out for sure - not even MSG crisps. Sure, we wondered on days when he seems more hyper or giggly than others, but we were never really able to put it down to anything more than being a 4 year old! He never had the black panda eyes, or the red ear. (Except once - we thought it was plain crisps, but now he has those quite often.) I look back at his Shattock test, which was postive for gluten, and trace only for milk - says milk is excreted from the body so quickly it's difficult to detect. We were advised to trial taking it out for a few weeks. We had no nasty sudden withdrawal when we first removed milk, but saw a vast improvement in eye-contact within a couple of weeks (or less) of removing gluten. We challenged the gf/cf diet by letting him eat whatever he wanted for a week over the summer. He was great - great week I mean. BUT by the end of the week he was complaining of "sore tummy" and had mild diarroea (can't spell that word!). We bottled out, and went back to the diet. Maybe it was just too much junk for the kid, who normally eats really natural gf/cf food. Plus, I went gluten and milk free for about a month as an experiment, and when I went back, I had gut ache. System not used to it? Maybe we should have trialled with enzymes? We were not very systematic or scientific, that's certainly true, as it was a sudden "all in" approach. What a barrage of issues. Sorry. Kris PS. Think SCD (maybe with yoghurt and cheese etc.) might have suited Geth better as we think he might react to too much carbs in general. Guest guest
We have become suspicious of Sainsburys Hula Hoops this week. He was fine with the old recipe but since the new one came out he has red ears and a temper and that is with the enzymes! Meanwhile, others are right. Yeast causes major giggles in this house too! Guest guest
We don't let Tom have rice cakes anymore as he scoffed them like an addict. Poor chap - anything he devours spells opiates or " highs " to us. Perhaps SCD or a form of SCD might be better? I can't claim we're totally SCD but when TOm is off all simple carbs he is a calmer and less maniacally giggly. Also better able to concentrate. He's just starting eating a variety of nuts which is a huge relief as he didn't have a snack that he really liked that he could have on teh diet. He does sneak gf raw pasta sometimes but that doesn't make him " high " like rice cakes do. WIsh we could just ditch the diet and do enzymes - we've ordered some and will give it a go. > > Hi there, so sorry off topic but any of you GF/CF/yeast free/low sugar > listers out there know if there are any problems with the above for our > children. > > My son is loving the 'new improved recipe' Hula hoops (Sains Own) even > more than he used to pre-recipe change.
