I saw an interesting documentary on looks a couple of years ago. They

did experiments with average-looking people and exceptionally

attractive people in a variety of situations. (This was a

Stossel report on 20/20 if I remember right.) The experiments showed

that the exceptionally attractive people do better in job interviews

even if their qualifications are the same as or inferior to their

" average " counterparts. More attractive people also were able to get

immediate help from strangers in public when they needed it whereas

average people had a hard time.

It's too bad that people focus so much on this superficial aspect of

our humanity, but I guess it's a fact of life.
