I went to the Caudwell site but couldnt see " where " i would even

apply for funding. There is no " button " . I assume you send in an

application in writing in your own words??

How come they think sonrise has so much efficacy as opposed to

ABA?????

Click on 'donation application form' or use this link:

I think the answer is that someone connected to the charity has

promoted Son-Rise within the Trust.

Maybe no-one has approached them in the same way about ABA........or

maybe they have funded lots of ABA and we just dont know about it.

I think one reason they fund Son Rise is that one start up course

can equip a family to train their own volunteers. With Son Rise the

therapists don't get paid - so in theory your £1500 or whatever

Start up now costs - is all you need. Whereas with ABA you have to

pay an hourly rate to ABA therapists. Where it works Son Rise is

very cost effective if knackering. We had 14 volunteers at one

stage - it was sometimes a struggle to remember all their names!!

It began when one mum applied to them for help with funding her

sonrise programme. They gave her some money and she kept in touch,

sending pictures her boy had drawn, telling them little things about

his programme, giving updates on his recovery, etc and the positivity

and hope really captured Caudwell's interest. They then began

accepting applications for funding from other son rise families,

initially within a 50 mile radius of Stoke on Trent, and snowballed to

last year funding approx 400 places on the UK start up program. I

believe Caudwell will be attending the whole start up course

himself this January.

You have to reapply once your funds run out – you can phone them to check how much you’ve got left.

btw they are now asking you send a letter from a “professional” (accepted support teacher’s letter, but said it will have to be a medical doc next time) confirming biomed improved your child’s condition. Better check.

Good morning

What happens with Caudwell once the first 12 months is nearly up. How can things continue - do people re-apply, is it automatic, or what will help it continue

Best wishes

hello peter

i rang caudwell yesterday, they told me they contact me when you are down to the

last £500.oo and that they want a letter from a professional, as natasa says,

but they only stipulate the letter comes from someone who does not benefit from

their services i.e. not a dan doctor or a supplier, i think a physiotherpist or

paed or psychiatrist teacher or g.p.
