Guest guest
Wow, you've beat me to that one, Chrissy! My last batch accelerated trace quite a bit, but not like what you had. I don't know for sure if that's seizing or not. I kind of thought seizing was when the soap suddenly got hard. It does sound like a fragrance problem, though. I'd probably try putting it in the oven to see what happens if it were my batch. I don't think it would hurt. Yes, it only happens on double batches with the last of one of your main oils. Guest guest
yeah, i left one insulated on the counter and the other I placed in the oven. I can't really say for sure if either really gelled I know the one on the counter did not. the one in the oven i guess it must have gelled but it was hard to tell really. Both have massive oil leakage. There is probably about 1/4 of a cup in each 2 lb mold. its a mess and now i have to figure out what to do about it. well its prbably partically my fault as well as the FO as I was getting a bit anxious to mix it up and my oils and lye were a bit warmer then they should have been, but i was waiting and waiting and waiting for it to cool. it didn't trace faster then normal until i added the FO. So what is there to do with a mess such as this?? I have some salt mixed in so Im not sure how that would effect a rebatch. > > > > > > > AUCK i am quite certain i finally discovered a soap siezure. Guest guest
Hmm. . . I have never rebatched a salt soap, but that's what I would try. Maybe rebatch just one of them to see how it goes. It sounds like your fo didn't allow proper emulsification. Guest guest
Is that what ricing is? I've heard about it, but have been very fortunate, I guess, not to have experienced it. Sure, we'll have an oil buy. Guest guest
Yes, pot looks like a large batch of rice pudding. Goes downhill from there. Looking forward to the oil. Thanks. Guest guest
ummm.. you should of added more water to it and then mixed till smooth, and then poured into your molds. This brought memories of when I did the swirl demo one year. Cheryl the three dog kitchen
Guest guest
I always keep boiling water ready at hand when I am using a FO that is " temper mental " . Add in boiling water a little at a time, and keep mixing.. you will obviously end up with a little larger batch, but it saves it every time. becky
