I got a very small bottle of it but it goes a really long way. It smells very real to me. Which would you think is better than a rose absolute or a rose otto? I was a strict and somewhat militant vegan for almost 20 years (now reformed :-). I see no connection at all between veganism and moral opposition to hexane. If people don't know it (most don't), the Vegan Society was founded in England in 1920; this to me is quite telling, as most think of veganism as a purely American phenomenon. The English have always been ahead of us on animal rights. The truth is that the vast majority of the world is peasants. Peasant diets are vegan, with only very occasional meat or dairy.
