Ling-what beautiful memories the children must have after these days-how neat! carol

Hi Helen,

Children's Day is a school holiday for primary school kids. We celebrate the occasion on the eve of this day. ON the eve, the children will receive gifts from the school as well as from their teachers. In addition, the highlight is of course, the Children's Day concert, where the adults [teachers, principals] will perform for the children.

This year, my school concert consisted of a short play, [directed by me, hehe! I acted too........], a dance, and the singing of nursery rhymes. THe nursery rhymes were chosen and sung by the teachers, while a few teachers will act when the song is done. For instance, when the song 'Three Little Ducks' was sung, our Vice-Principal acted as the Mother Duck while 3 other male teachers acted as the baby ducks! I really enjoyed myself that days.

The school term will end in late Nov. I'm sorry, I do not celebrate Thanksgiving, so I do not know exactly when it is! We celebrate Christmas in my family though. School will then start again in Jan, after New Year's day.

Thanks so much for sending the Prozac link - will look at it when I am online again afterwards. Thanks again!

Hugs, Ling

Hi Helen and ALL, Sorry for my slow reply....... been really so busy this week.............It was Children's Day on 1 Oct, so we celebrated it in school on 30 Sept. Had great fun performing in the concert for the children!About the Prozac, you mentioned that it can be nasty. I heard about it too, but just cannot remember what it was about. If you remember, can you please enlighten me?The school term will be until late November. THen we have the holidays. However, I will be quite busy as my school is closing, and will be merged with 2 other primary schools. Hence we will all be very busy preparing for the move.As for the headaches, well............. frankly, just 2 days after switching from Faverin to Prozac, I started to get those headaches again the moment I wake up. [rebound headaches???] Now it is slightly better, but the headaches seem to be coming regularly again.Take care,{{{ Pain free hugs }}}

Hi Ling.

Glad that you are doing fine :o) Are you all wearing masks there??? We have two cases of the SARS here in Toledo, Ohio... They are two small children, one came from China and was adopted and the sibling got it from her... hope and Pray that it turns out alright for all of you there in Singapore...

Love Ya

Helen

Hello!

I'm doing fine, thanks! Just that due to the SARS outbreak, schools are

closed... primary schools will open again on 16 Apr. However, am back in

school this week for meetings, workshops, etc. Had also just sent homework

assignments to my pupils by snail post yesterday.

How's things on your side?

Do you run through each day on the fly?

When you ask "How are you?"

Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done,

do you lie in your bed

with the next hundred chores

running through your head?

Ever told your child,

"We'll do it tomorrow."

And in your haste, not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch?

Let a good friendship die?

Just call to say "Hi"?

When you worry and hurry through your day,

It is like an unopened gift....

Thrown away...

Life is not a race.

Take it slower.

Hear the music

before the song is over.

How is the SARS going there? Is it being contained? Any of your family or friends (heaven forbid) been diagnosed? School still closed? Oh, I do worry for you.

"Seeing the good" in another person who is on a destructive path is one of the biggest pitfalls in life. We will waste years of our valuable energy and time trying to change someone for the better because we see their "potential". Hey, potential is as common as hair; everyone has some. It doesn't mean it can be styled into anything spectacular, or that it is going to last.

Hi ...

SARS still hitting the headlines here everyday... but not too bad, not contained, but at least not really out of control. Schools are opened already. From tomorrow onwards, all pupils and staff in schools will be given a thermometer each, and all have to measure their temperatures twice a day and record the temperatures in a log book.

Right now, pupils who have been to SARS affected countries are required to be on home quarantine for 10 days. [same for all staff.] Others who have been out of the country but not SARS affected countries can come to school, but will have their temperatures monitored for 10 days. Any child who is unwell or has a fever are sent home.

A special ambulance can be called by the public to send any suspected SARS patient to the SARS designated hospital.

About 2 weeks ago a major vegetable and fruit wholesale market has been affected, and it has since been closed and disinfected, and affected people on home quarantine. One of my pupils is on quarantine because of this. To date, I think almost 3000 people are on home quarantine, over a hundred infected, but over half are discharged. can't remember the deaths though. slightly more than 10, i think.

How's things at your side?
